Figure this new beginning for Batman family deserves its own thread. There's preview available for the first issue, on sale next wednesday. It looks really good. I take back all the bad things I said about Quitely's art. It looks gorgeous when colored!

AICN COMICS SHOOT THE MESSENGER: Exclusive Sneak Peek at Morrison & Quitely's BATMAN & ROBIN!!! -- Ain't It Cool News: The best in movie, TV, DVD, and comic book news.

I have high hopes on this new series. Can't wait to read the first issue!!!

I can't wait until he starts injecting black magic and alternate squid dimensions and mysical imagery and other crap I won't understand until I read the interview in Wizard!!!

No, but seriously, this is high on my list of must-read titles.

I'll likely pass. I like Morrison's work well enough, but I've never gotten into Quitely's art. All of his people look like bags of skin filled with lumpy mashed potatoes.

So the batmobile is a hovercar now?

I really can't stand Morrison. There is an interview with him over at ign in which he says the goal for this series is to basically make it be like the Adam West TV show and to pull out all the ridiculous stuff from Batman stories of the 60s. I think that this is a terrible idea. Instead of letting the Batman story grow and build on it's own, he's cutting away the last 40 years of the character to make it be what Morrison liked when he was a kid. This is pretty much like Brand New Day, only for Batman.

The only thing that really bugs me about Quietly is the lips he draws--everyone either looks like they just injected a gallon of collagen or they ate a lemon.

After "All Star Superman" (which is absolutely amazing) I had high hopes for this series until I read your post. Is that seriously what this series will revolve around?

Reading Morrison's work is like watching a tv show and only paying attention to every fifth word said. It's fustrating at times to understand where the plot is going, or more specifically, where Morrison thinks the plot is going. I'm sure this will suck.

I remember being excited about "All-Star Batman & Robin", and then it came out...and I waited three months for the next issue...and then I waited seven months for the issue after that...

    Morrison didn't write All-Star Batman & Robin.

I'm actually pumped, but a cautious kind of pumped.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't this series not revolve around Bruce Wayne and any of the established Robins?

I could swear I read a plot synopsis that says this series has Batman is Dick Grayson, and Robin is Damian Wayne.

Yeap. The coming Batman comics will feature Dick Grayson and Damian as Batman & Robin

Bruce Wayne is dead (or so they thought)

Well, there goes my interest. I might read this as a TPB if it gets good reviews. The last few years have really killed my trust in Grant Morrison.

I thought the man could do no wrong. We3, Arkham Asylum, and All-Star Superman. I STILL can't believe how amazing All-Star Superman was. I even kind of enjoyed 52.

Then he pulls crap like the entire last 3 years of Batman comics, and the abomination of Final Crisis. What the hell.

Not saying I'm boycotting B&R, just that I'm not taking a chance on it. I'll definitely check it out on TPB if the reviews are good, which is how I read all my comics.

Yup. Morrison himself said that this was what he was going for.

Man, this issue is GREAT! I'm not a Morrison fan by any stretch of the imagination, but this issue rocks!

Issue was pretty cool, and I like the dynamic betwen Dick and Damian, but so far Pyg seems like a lame villain.

This wasn't too bad of an issue. Sets up for a new mythos now. I'm more interested in Red Robin if anything. Need to know what has become of Tim Drake.

I flipped through this issue out of curiosity and I have to say I was really impressed. This was a fun start to the new (temporary) direction of Batman. The plot is nice and striaght-forward - no RIP or Final Crisis confusion here - and Morrison has a really nice handle on the characters. The art was actually pretty good. People were still a bit lumpy, but this is some of the best Quitely work I've ever seen. I'll be back for issue #2.
