Growing up in Minnesota, Puckett was a hero of mine. He was someone that always excited me, every time he stepped to the plate. He was a hero in the 87 and 91 World Series, and will be missed, not only by me but all baseball fans in Minnesota, and all over the country. RIP Kirby, one of the greatest center fielders of our time.
Whoa, I heard he had a stroke, but damn... He was the only Twin I ever heard of before I moved to this God Forsaken place, and he was damn good.
Touch 'em all Kirby...you made a lot of us Minnesota kids happy growing up...I actually remember playing with my TF's and watching the Twins play at my Grandma's place. Part of my life for sure...RIP.
I too remember 87' and 91'. He was an awesome Baseball player. I guess after baseball he let his health go. It is sad when someone dies so young. RIP
I cannot believe this news. I have long been a fan of Puck and to see this happen so fast is just very saddening. RIP Puck.
I heard about the stroke earlier today. I gotta say while I'm saddened by the news, I'm not all that shocked. He was in terrible shape. RIP Kirby.
I just found out about this on the spawn message board. I may live in CA but Kirby is and was always one of my favorite baseball players. I first hear of him in the 87 World Series game and fallow him tell he retire from his eye propleam [ms]. I will miss him alot. I glad that I have an autograph plaqu of Kirby. I will never sale it. Now for me to fine my poster of him. R.I.P. Kirby
RIP Kirby. I still remember having a MLB Baseball game for the Genesis. I moved every great player to my own team and kicked asses.
Man, that's terrible. I heard he had a stroke but had no idea it was bad enough to kill him. Rest in peace Kirby.
Devastated. Growing up in Minnesota, and playing baseball, Kirby was my hero. My sister made it a point to find a great condition rookie card of his a few years back to give to me. It has left me drained, emotionally. He is truly one of my first "heroes" to pass away. Rest in Peace Puck, and thanks for the memories.
In my formative years as a baseball fan, Kirby Puckett was one of those players that you could watch, remember and enjoy. His demeanor in his interviews, and the way he played the game, you could tell that to him it was not just a job. Rest in Peace, #34.
Wow I didn't realize the number of people here that live, or grew up in MN. I had a pleasure of meeting Kirby in 1985 I believe. Being 6 years old at the time, he became my superhero, surpassing Superman. I remember pretending to be Kirby Puckett by yelling "KIRRRRRRRRBEEEEEE PUCKETTTTT" then pretending to hit a homerun. I am guessing a lot of you did similar things as children. RIP Kirby.
Man, that sucks. I remember seeing him play a few times (when he played against the A's.) I too heard he had a stroke but had no idea just how serious it was.
