For me it's Rush (I know I'm the worst person ever), I don't think they're bad I'm just not really big into them.

Just remember you wouldn't really have NWA, B.I.G, or Tupac without the old singers; they did a lot of sampling of pretty much any vinyl they could get their hands on back then.

As for who I can't get behind? I don't really know, I try to be optimistic most days about music; I would probably say most artists on the Top 40 at any odd time; Ellie Goulding, Adele, and Macklemore/Ryan Lewis are my 3 exceptions, but the artificial and seemingly all-digital production values of everything else makes me wonder how close we are to having Hatsune Miku in the #1 spot.

No, but Led Zeppelin's "When The Levee Breaks" drum beat has been sampled countless times by rappers, maybe even some that you listed.

As for rapping, Kurtis Blow made the or one of the first real rap songs.

Music's family tree has been described to me as more incestuous than the Targaryen's.

Well now that you mention it.....

Yes, Rush. I don't get the appeal of these guys. The voice of that lead singer can get pretty horrendous.

    Also:

    The Rolling Stones
    Motley Crew
    Guns 'n' Roses
    Nirvana
    Greg Almond
    Tupac
    Kanye
    Beebz
Noe Direction - actually any Boy "Band"
    Michael Jackson
Maroon V - another singer with a WTF? voice
Adele and all her "poor me" sappy-crap music - seriously, get over the guy who dumped you already, lady.

I never saw the appeal of Slayer or Maiden, honestly. Huuuge metalhead, and a bunch of my friends love those two for some reason. Not saying they're bad, but- just not feelin it. Slayer's hard to understand and all they seem to be worried about is playing as fast as they can with little emotion in it. And I just never liked Maiden's sound. The older stuff I prefer is stuff like Motorhead or Metallica. Other than that, I just prefer the heavy and hard-hitting stuff from today like Disturbed, Slipknot, Lamb of God, etc.

Slayer's hard to understand, but you like Lamb of God?
    Okay then.

I could honestly never take the whole 'grunge' movement. Nirvana, STP, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden... they all bored me to tears. During that time, I stuck with Iron Maiden, Rush, Queensryche, Suicidal Tendencies, Black Flag, Nine Inch Nails, Ministry and many other metal and punk bands. As long as it wasn't grunge, I liked it.

My love for Geddy Lee can actually range from "I fucking love his voice" to "holy shit, his voice is 2high pitched and theatrical4me".

    Is that weird?

No, not weird at all. There are occasions where his voice can be glass-shattering, but the music behind it is good enough to push through to the next awesome song.

^^ Yeah, mostly agreed. I may not like 98% of their music, but like the Stones, there are one or two I can sit through if I'm too lazy to change the radio station.
