This is what Attaktix should have been. It's a toon, toys and game all in one. Reallly?! Yes. WOW!... imagine that... Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bakugan_(toys) Google image for the lazy: http://images.google.com/images?q=bakugan&...sa=N&tab=wi ^Check out image #4 for size and scale. Found these at Target tonight and bought a starter set. I found two types of toys: Starter set which comes with three of the transforming (marbles) and single static mini trading figs. There were pegs for the expansion packs but they were bare so I don't know if those are cards and marbles or what. I'll keep checking back and find out. I haven't yet had the chance to study the game and it's rules and only glanced over the Wiki nor Have I seen the show. But the figs themselves are pretty fucking awesome. The figs don't transform until they roll over the cards which have metal in them. There's a magnet in each of the figs which initiates the transformation and that in and of itself is cool as hell. Each has little feet that can be folded out so you don't need the cards to keep them standing. I could roll these all day! Even if the game is lame the figs were worth the purchase. The Starter set is 11.99, you get three cards, three marbles and an instruction book. I think the expansion pack was 4-something (I have no idea what's included) and I don't remember the price on the static figs. I was trying to take pics but all of my batteries are roasted. I'll add some at a later date so you all can get a good upclose look at them. EDIT: Oh, and of course there are varient packs. Some have dicast in them (one of mine has a dicast ring) others are made of translucent plastic.
Alright, got some pics. Also found the official site. It's new so there's not much up that's actually functional. www.bakugan.com
I watched a few episodes of this and omg it was the lamest thing ever! I don't see this being as popular as pokemon or yu gi oh
Not too thrilled. Never was with this kind of board games. Give me old Reiner Kneizia type boardgames and wargames anytime (now I've got the hots for Age of Battles system using 1/72 minis).
Just saw these in Target today, some of the little guys are kinda cool, but I agree with these not catching on like some of the other import crazes
One of the Japanese guys at Botcon game my son a couple of those in 06. They are neat little toys. I didn't find out they were a game until this botcon, though.
Pokeman was/is a shite cartoon and yet the phenominon is still going with toys games and merch. Cybertron was the crappiest cartoon in TF history IMO and it still did well IMO. Point is, Good story telling doesn't equal good sales, merch and viewership amongst kids. Hell, look at us G1 kids....we watched HE-MAN, Silverhawks....those shows are awful.
I likes me some sphere-formers... Do they sell them at Walmart (Target's too far to go to more than once in a blue moon)?
Actually, I spotted them at walmart for the first time tonight. And it was one of the more shitty local Walmarts so keep an eye out.
Bought one for Cobra Comander to bowl with I like how when you place the balls on the magnet card, the 'pop' open into beast mode
Oh yeah, I was going to get those when they first came out in Japan. The set was rather expensive I recall. I was meaning to pick some up on clearance.... I think they look fun, like Eggbeasts.
^ thx for the idea, I need to set a bunch of Dukes up. Death- Both are from Target, the dragon one is from a 3 pack and the Cobra was just a booster. I got them for what SydneyY said, they reminded me of egg beasts. Thought the cobra one would make a nice weapon grenade for Cobra Commander
I saw these in stores....didn't interest me that much. Whatever happened to the cool card/ battle games, shows and toys that were out when i was in elementary school?
I dunno but it seems like they're trying to bring them all back. There's new Pokemon and Digimon stuff everywhere now. I have to admit, I kinda liked Digimon, Greymon was cool These balls are a little expensive. $5 a ball seems a little steep Made a quick youtube vid on how these Backugons work (sorry about the background noise, was watching the Avengers movie)
Cool. I haven't seen any of the expansion packs yet. I'll keep a look out. I have two of the dragons. One is exactly the same as the one you have and the other....the head spike faces the opposite direction, it has a diecast ring and a moving lower jaw.
i have to say i love these little games like this i might get the battle pack and a other stuff looks kewl to me but i liked b-daman
