I liked Spinout quite well but all the production shortcuts kinda killed the alt mode for me. Faux wheel vents, faux side vents, painted headlights, etc. - it would look quite crude next to MP Sideswipe in vehicle mode.

Picked up Sunsurge after seeing the final product with all the goofs.

Except that a number of people have seemingly cancelled preorders due to "what can you do?" compromises to the design in the final test shots. I'm hopeful that another delay is correcting those details.

Well I just opened my Sunsurge and I have to say other than one head scratching moment with the transformation regarding the roof and a mildly loose leg panel.....this figure is ACES!!!!

I really like Badcube products, but was leery about getting a S1 car from anyone outside of Takara, but after getting this guy transformed into bot mode....I'm still in awe of just how toon accurate it is. The fit and finish on the figure is simply perfect. I have no scratches, no paint variance and the yellow colour looks ten times better in person than online.

Definitive Sunstreaker obtained!!! His logos will be added and he's ready for his full detailing and wax job!!!

I'm ready for Blaze and whatever the Police re-deco will be named!

Badcube has done it again!! :D

Looks like the best option is a wait list:
    BadCube OTS-08 SUNSURGE

    Or... eBay.

I think they mentioned on their FB page they'll likely reissue him after their next run of War Dog. Not confirmed though.

    Wow. Finally got this guy.

I was never a huge fan of the smug and snyde G1 bot always trying to keep his posh paintjob unblemished...

But this figure is an amazing feat of modern 3P engeneering...

I think its overly engineered. But I cant help but marvel at it...

It's borderline ROTF engineering. With tiny panels and bits to covert. Im tempted to give him a movieesque bug head and keep him with my Movie TFs...

Anyway, this figure is above and beyond what you want to spend a chunk of change on a 3P figure. Very well designed, produced and packaged.

With all the tiny thin parts I do have extreme reservations on how this figure will stand the test of time. Lots of thin platic parts being bent, pushed, pulled and swiveled...

    My score: 8.75 / 10

I took points away for the character and risk of breakage to tiny parts...

So many people in the Spinout thread have been ragging on the way Sunsurge's legs look. Perhaps they don't know that you can mistransform Sunsurge's legs to look almost the same as Spinout's. It does leave some empty hollow space near the ankles. Looking just like MP Wheeljack's.

Although there's no way to get rid of the high-crotch look.

Can I ask where you got him from? I was under the impression he was sold out everywhere.

Glad you liked the figure! Though I never noticed any thin or brittle plastic though. All of BadCube's stuff is pretty tough. Though there was a breakage or two with the roof swivel.

Yeah. I just can't understand. There isn't a single one thing I like about Spin over this figure. I can't even pretend to like something more ..

Erm .. Maybe the back ...? I guess if I was forced to chose, that would be it.

Maybe the high-er crotch/longer legs was due to so many people saying BC's stuff has always been a little squat. Or maybe it's an Asian thing - they love super long legs and small-er bodies. Look at animu characters. Especially the males.

I think the car back, front chestpiece, and legs all look better than Sunsurge. Just IMO.

I mean, don't get me wrong, G1 Sunstreaker will always have big feet. But Spinout's look pretty centered and proportional compared to the big duck bills coming out of the sides of Sunsurge.

I thought the early renders of spinout were stunning. I don't think what's coming out looks anything like those. Plus the "fit and finish" looks non existent. I'm still tempted by Spinout anyway because I always Loved the character. It's kind of a shame to not get a version of him when I have all the other transformable versions... (A least one of each mold I don't have every binaltech/kiss players version)

Do you think Spinout has an easier transformation?

    that's exactly how mine looks)
actually, "high crotch look" can be kinda rid off if the hands are shifted on the hinges up a bit (like the right hand on the picture)
