I've gotta give FT Spindrift the edge over BC Huff 2.0.

I'm pretty content with my Badcube Huffer V2's (one for bot and one for alt) - I like the much-improved quality and design over V1 and I actually like the way the inaccurate cab looks - the V1 while more toon accurate, really has a very "cheap toyish" look to it. And I don't mean that it looks like the G1 toy, I mean that (to me) it looks like a cheap plastic toy. Weird as I'm normally big on cartoon accuracy. But for Huffer, the more realistic cab works better. The V1 cab just doesn't look like a real truck to me, (even though I know there are trucks that look a bit like that). I have the same issue with their Gears and Swerve - bot looks great but the alt's look like Happy Meal Toys. I ended up picking up one of each of those for bot mode but am waiting on someone to do the alt's better.

If FT are able to pull off a Huffer that looks cartoon accurate AND pulls off a realistic alt mode at the same time, then I may sell off one (or both if they knock the Bot mode totally out of the park) Likewise if they do Gears and Swerve

For Pipes, I'm probably just going to wait and see what happens. BC's looks pretty bare and plasticy to me and doesn't really hit that MP quality level. Hopefully, FT does one as a remould of Huffer eventually.

Much better? I can see FT potentially taking what has been done before and tweaking it, but the stuff you mention is entirely subjective.
    • I have no issue with plastic tyres. For one, they don't perish, split or get lost.
    • It feels as good as any other minibot sized MP scaled figure in my collection (and better than some). It's more solid than MP-21, Ollie, Boost etc. I don't expect (or want) die cast in figures of that size.
    • It's interesting that you bring up toon accuracy for the alt mode and then mention Spindrift above, because its robot mode isn't at all accurate to the animation model, proportionally speaking. At least with Huff it's really just the angle of the front of the cab, but that's entirely in keeping with the aesthetic of the entire MP line (realistic alt modes, MP-45 aside).
Huff's robot mode is pretty spot on and I've seen nothing from FT recent efforts that leads me to believe it will give us something closer, in either mode. It's the law of diminishing returns with characters like that. Sure, if Outrider is ever released it might be marginally better than Terreagis, but almost certainly not enough to make me replace a figure that looks very animation accurate to begin with (and I would have been enjoying for years at that point).

    Yeah, MUCH better.
True. Spindrift's bot mode isn't accurate either but at the same time it doesn't feel like it came out of McDonald's Happy Meal.

I really think the choice of orange plastic they made is what hurts Huff 2.0. It's just got that cheap translucent look to it that detracts from the figure. Otherwise, I think he's a great Huff.

Agreed. Or if BC had painted it the same color as the painted metal, maybe that would have solved the "cheap" orange look.

Otherwise, I think Huff looks terrific in bot mode.

Huff is good, but I was a bit underwhelmed. I wouldn’t pay more than his original retail price.

Totally agreed. I like all Badcube minibots but I wont pay the retail price as I always get them through 2nd hand market/Ebay flash sale.

I was underwhelmed indeed with Huff v2. Same for BC Pipes.

I read somewhere (I don't remember where) that there might be a Huff 2.0 re-issue in September.
In my opinion, Badcube has done a really good job with Robot mode and I think I would buy a Huff re-issue instead of waiting forever for Fan Toys.

Probably carefully reissuing G1 favourites to allow for their next development push. They could do a G1 Perceptor at this point?

Guessing that making robots isn't their day job.

Probably only get out a run of transformers between other projects.

I'm happy that FansToys is doing the character because once it is released*, I bet a lot of people will be selling their Huff 2.0 for a little cheaper than the $60 retail price, and then I'll buy it, because I really like Huff 2.0, I just haven't bought it. Yet. And I definitely like the looks of it a lot better than FansToys'.

    *y'know, in like 2 years

    Who knows.

They could be making widgets as their main product line and transformers as a hobby/ secondary or tertiary product lines.

I think BD did a good job with the Lambo carbots. I prefer minibots from other 3P companies however.

Has anyone had experience with this site: -

    www.margotgibson.com

    The prices are really suspicious.
I can see that there are a number of KO products on there, but my feelings are that I don't trust them at all.
    The font. The eBay layout.

Badcube's Huff is at a reduced price. I'm not aware that a KO of Huff ever existed.
Quantity in stock 615 units? Really?

New Transformers BadCube Toy OTS-01 Engineer Huff Huffer Figure In Stock 635RYgTn [635RYgTn] - $39.95

Unless someone tells me they are Ok, I'm going to avoid.

    So frustrating.
