Surprise surprise ! Looks like movie distributers are upset with the poor UMD sales and are canning some titles and cutting back on what they release.

So go out there and support the tiny movies !

Sucks that one of the main selling points for the PSP is about to disappear. Well, it sucks for people with PSP's that is.

I own a handful of PSP movies. But if they stop making them, I'll just convert my DVD's and download them onto the Memory Stick. No biggie.

How about they just sell the movies at $9.99. Then I'll buy them for sure.

You know something's wrong when there are more movies for a gaming device than games themselves...

The UMD movies are way, way too expensive. Some are as high a $35. Who wants to spend that when you can buy the DVD (which is much, much higher quality, plays on your TV a computer, or portable dvd players, has special features, and isn't cropped to hell) for $20 or so? The answer, apprantly, is very few people. I happily own a PSP, I saddly own only 4 games, I thankfully own 0 UMD movies and don't plan on getting one at their current price.

I saw them in the store selling for in some cases more then the dvd itself. I'm not surprised by this at all.

I too thought that the entire strategy behind the selling of UMDs was off. I always thought it would have been a better idea to sell them with the DVD (so you'd have the DVD without the UMD and the DVD with the UMD) for a markup (~$5 over the just DVD price). That way people that wanted the UMD would also have the DVD without having to double invest, or be really picky about what they buy on UMD.

    It was posted here.

In Europed UMD movies are doing *really* well on the whole. But then they're a couple of quid cheaper than the DVD's mostly.

Anyone else think that Sony should whore out UMD as a format for cheap portable movie players?

I can't imagine that keeping it exclusive to a £200 portable games console can be doing it any favors.

Is there any kind of output on a PSP to let you hook one up to a TV?

the closest thing is the USB port but as far as I know there is no way to use it to play on a TV.

Missed an opportunity there then, I'd say.
