So when's the last time you had a moment/train-of-thought similar to this?

For me it's currently HasLab Optimus Prime/Fire Convoy. But I want ONLY him. Sadly money wasn't available for me at the time of the set needing to be funded. Honestly thinking of buying one on the secondary market & then just selling Ultra Magnus & all the extras afterwards.

Again, I KNOW it's a bad idea but I'm very close to convincing myself that it's worth it.

Anything that is over 100 dollars.

Honestly I shouldn’t be spending that on toys given I’m pretty low income, but then I always find a way to justify even though I say I shouldn’t.

Just my .02, but I feel like you have to do an honest enjoyment-price assessment on new stuff.

My personal assessment there generally prevents me from spending over $300 on one item, as I think that's where my personally enjoyment of any Transformer caps. (No HasLabs for me, unless they somehow manage just the perfect one.) And then stuff like...I foolishly pre-ordered the (much spendier, relatively, than the Hasbro release) Autobots United 5-pack as a Takara-Tomy Mall exclusive, which is uncancelllable. It essentially made each mold inside 4,000 yen. I realized I wouldn't enjoy any of them enough to justify that price, even though I can swing it, and have plenty of other stuff coming in early next year, so that'll get put up on Mercari unopened at MRSP.

On the other hand, that "Will I enjoy it enough?" question came out a "yes" on a G1 Megatron reissue at the exact same price earlier in the year, which I have no regrets over.

IMO never a good idea to spend on something just to have it, especially if it gets over $100, but heck, even less than that. Only you know how much you'll enjoy something, but it's always worth an ask.

That new Legacy Slipstream. Don't have any version of this character and I know they barely put any effort in the making of this figure but I know I'll grab her when I see her on that peg anyway.

I backed Haslab Victory Saber. I only wanted Star Saber, so I sold literally everything else separate. The micromasters, the display stand, Victory Leo, blast effects, THE BOX, everything. I made more money parting the set out than I paid to back it initially. So it might be worth a shot!

I mean, same, but I don't think that necessarily makes it a "bad idea" if it ticks your boxes for enjoying the figure. I don't have a Slipstream, I really liked the Windblade mold, and I think it looks the part enough. Easy-peasy purchase decision.

"I'm getting this even though I can't afford or don't really want it" is a bad idea. "I'm getting this even though people on the internet said they didn't like it" (if you expect to) is not.

That goes in the other direction too—if SS86 Op went on sale for $30 tomorrow, I'm pretty sure 90% of people here would tell you to get him. But I know he wouldn't be worth the space or enjoyment for me even at that price (a big figure and not one I'd find fun), so that would be a bad idea for me.

Once again, the best judge and only arbiter of how much you'll enjoy something and what it's worth to you is you. The only bad ideas are when you don't listen to your own interests or wallet.

If you think you'll actually not like that Slipstream at all though, don't get it; for real. $25 clutter is still clutter.

Could have wanted to use one for the combined mode and one as the character itself

Anytime shits over $100, + if it's big AF. cuz running outta space. Last time this happened was Legacy Tital wave. I was on the fence but it was cheaper on deep discount so I preordered. I thought I'll have time to think it over before it ships. Well, once I realized it's shipping I couldn't cancel it anymore. Now he's still in the box taking up a massive space in my closet. I console myself by saying I got him for $30 off retail.

Now shit that's $100 but not a space taking up Titan, I hesitate less. Like missing link C-01 prime.

I'm low on space these days, so anytime I buy anything it feels like a bad idea, lol.

I don’t like spending more than $30 on a toy (I made an exception for Death’s Head). Between quality control, curious kids, lack of space, yellowing plastic, plastic melting and paint eating soft plastics, and who knows what else, I just can’t see tying up more than $30 in one toy.

*A second fortress Maximus to repaint into Grand Maximus. I absolutely refuse to pay $700+ for the official but I also don't wanna spend too much on a Fort Max to paint up. My backlog of customs is still pretty big and I DO want Grand.....

*Aftermarket lockdowns are gonna hurt me bad if Walmart fails to stock them in-store. I need 3 of each weaponizer and I only got 1 so far of him.....

The bump of chicken Optimus because I don't care what people say about it. It's weird and I like it for that.

Any old Botcon exclusives that I don't have. One of my long-term collecting goals was to own all of them, but I just don't know if that's a goal worth achieving anymore.

It's a bad idea, but I still want to buy all the KFC Junkions - but I don't have the room for them. I did manage 2 of the 4 at the top of my list though during TFSource customer appreciation. Couldn't pass up the prices.

Mostly a lot of Takara one-offs/series.

GTR Megatron is one of those.

    Device Label Blaster is another.

I’ll throw in Sega Megatron and PlayStation Prime.

I’ve been debating buying Titanium Rodimus recently, because I like how it scales with Classics Hot Rod.
