I think Stanley Tucci's character will become a joke. We see in the payoff trailer that he is very serious about creating the new transformers, but I'm thinking he becomes something to laugh at later in the film. With grimlock roaring at him, hound flicking his "cigar" at his back, his new "something is coming" line and expression from the new extended tv spot, and his now iconic "oh my god", it just seems to me he's not going to be serious as the movie progresses. Maybe it's just because he was horribly wrong about not needing the autobots, which could be likely as well. Thoughts?

Is it just me or do we often hear people yell oh my god in the Bay movies?

is it just me or am I confused as to why, on this site, it is considered strange for someone to yell "oh my god" while in the midst of an alien invasion/war with ships falling on your car?

If I was attacked by aliens, I'd be saying a lot of XXX rated stuff.

I can't imagine he's gonna be an outright comedic character like Simmons, but rather once he get's wrapped up in Cade and the Autobots business gets a lot of shit thrown his way from the 'Bots and humans.
I think the scene with Hound flicking his bullet-cigar and Grimlock roaring at him is gonna be while he tries to explain and justify himself to the humans and 'Bots, and naturally they're having none of it.

I think most people are tired of it because this scene is in about 80% of the spots and trailers! :lol

I just fear that it might lead to a goofy and obnoxious character (like another Leo), therefore weakening the movie.

Yeah the reaction isn't weird, just the use of it is overdone lol

If one person reacts to an alien invasion with 'Oh my god' then another and another and another it begins to get repetitive. Regardless of whether it might happen that way in real life - the sheer repetitive nature of hearing the same comment over and over again weakens the believability of the reaction.

In a similar way to Shia's "no" after a while it looses all meaning and just becomes a generic response for every situation that the character experiences throughout the films.

I don't mind the 'Oh My God' as much if its not as often and maybe its just the fact the trailers and teasers have bombarded us with the line so many times - however asking for a small amount of variation isn't that much to ask for, is it?

The character does seem to have the same lines and scenarios occurring to him as prior comedic relief characters and the same character arc seems present given the trailers (Douche bag learns that he was wrong and helps the Autobots later in the film - E.g. Simmons)

Fearing the worst is natural as after ROTF everyone fears the worst might happen - however I'm guessing that we all hold out some form of hope that the character will break the mould. Personally I doubt it however it hasn't turned me off the character, its just made me view him in a worse light until the film proves otherwise. The excessive use of his more comedic scenes in the trailers isn't really helping this either - however the film may prove these just to be small one-off moments that are not as noticeable, heck some of them might not even be in the finished film.

He definitely seems to be the new 'Simmons' character.

Though one can hope he doesn't get as annoying as Leo in ROTF.

Then again, I figure he's going to be like the equivalent of Galloway in ROTF as well: the stuffy upstart going, 'stupid giant space robots! We don't need giant space robots when we can make our own! And you can quote me on that!'

I wouldn't worry about Stanley Tucci's character filling that role.

TJ Miller, on the other hand, is probably going to be a goofball.

I doubt he'll be annoying at all. And as for his "oh my God", people, I can almost guarantee he'll only say it like that ONCE. The only reason its "annoying" now is because oh how it's used in every tv spot.

    Given the trailers if I had to judge what the character are like;

TJ Miller comes across as the annoying side-kick taking the place of Leo

Jack Reynor comes across as a mix of the 'eye candy' role of Mikaela Banes combined with the tiny effectiveness of Carly - he seems rather unnecessary in the scenes they've shown.

Stanley Tucci seems to be a mix between Simmons and Galloway

Li Bingbing seems like an unnecessary addition made to promote the movie to foreign audiences

I think he will have the same persona as that government official from ROTF that nobody liked and he threw himself off the plane in Egypt. Forgot his name.
