I just heard on the radio where the guy that does elmo stepped down after allegations he he had a fling with a 16 yr boy . Crazy the reign of elmo is over we need more burt and ernie

Yeah, it's headline news everywhere right now. The Elmo guy (who is 52) claims that his relationship with the accuser was when the boy was 18, not 16. So he may not be a pedophile - he's just a creep. No matter how this plays out, his career is over. There's no way Sesame Street is gonna let a guy who is accused of child rape back to work regardless if it ends up being a false accusation. Whether it's right or wrong, parents will undoubtedly still have a problem with knowing the 52 year old man voicing arguably the most famous & adored muppet is having homosexual relations with boys that are only 18 years old aka still not even 'legal' in many states. There's just no way Sesame Street will turn a blind eye to that.

 

There was no elmo when I was a kid and then there was the tickle me elmo obnoxious

I"ve heard differently first of all this guy was married with kids and says he has never been with a guy and has denied ALL accusations and HASN'T stepped down and that Muppets are standing behind him and NOT firing him

At this point it doesn't really matter. When allegations of this sort get to this level of a media circus he might as well have done it.

I kind of wonder if the Henson Co will actually be able to save the character after this guy quickly made himself the face behind Elmo. Don't for a momant think that most comedians are going to let something like this go. I can already see the Faimly Guy and Robot Chicken skits.

I'm not sure I believe these guys whats the purpose in coming forward 7 years later? To get money thats all I can think of. It's sad as Kevin Clash has been with the Muppets for almost 30 years
