Back when Aaron Archer had his own sub forum here in tfw, one poster had asked him about the Powerlinx figures from the Armada line about giving them different names and stuff. Aaron answered by saying that he wanted to give the powerlinx guys new names instead of considering them just upgrades but it was too late in the process. He wanted to name the following:

Powerlinx Hot Shot = Hot Rod
    Powerlinx Red Alert= Brawn
Powerlinx Jet Fire = Galaxy Shuttle
    Powerlinx Cyclonus = Springer
    Powerlinx Demolisher = Six Shot
    Powerlinx Thrust = Dirge

Now I've been looking all over the Internet where Aaron said this but I can't find it anywhere. Not even tfw has any trace of this and I was wondering if anyone else has seen this, perhaps from another site or something.

I vaguely remember that but with orsons world gone, all traces of that are gone too. but those names look about right.

I remember hearing about Demolisher's repaint was going to be Sixshot at one point.

Dirge, Springer and Hot Rod seem fairly obvious. Though powerlinx Red Alert = Brawn? huh? I get the orange but he's missing that green and even then the head scuplt doesn't work.

Remember that 12 years ago, just getting HOMAGES was a boon to collectors. This was before the days of Classics when original characters were getting straight up remakes

It's sad that some old great moments on these boards are gone. I'd love to be able to go back and read more of those old conversations.

I miss orsons world in general. I wish we had something like that in general even if it was just a lower grade designer answering questions about the design process and inspirations

Hot Rod vs Dirge would've been a sick box set

That's funny, because I have a Powerlinx Hot Shot who is labeled "RODIMUS" in the package. I've never seen another like it.

I remember posting the suggestion of making Red Alert a Trailbreaker repaint in that topic back then.

Without photo evidence, don't expect anyone to believe that.

Hmmm I don't know. These links don't really say anything about Giving new names. You are right about the six gun thing though.

I did find it weird that it was only Starscream's powerlinx form was simply Thundercracker's colour scheme.

Looks like Thundercracker wasn't going to be the only toy with an individual name.

All right, it's ENERGON Powerlinx. But I bought it in 2004, I've posted about it here before, I've posted pictures before, I've asked if it was worth anything before. No one ever had an answer. Now I mention it offhand, and you tell me I'm a liar. All right, it wasn't the ARMADA version. I misread. If I said ENERGON Powerlinx, would you have reacted the same way?

I posted it here years ago, I thought you saw it the first time. I remember you.

that's energon hotshot, not the armada powerlinx that was previously being discussed. since there was also a rodimus released during energon, what you have is a simple packaging error

    This.

That's simply a card for the *actual* Rodimus figure in a Hot Shot package. Nothing more.

So yes, you are technically correct. The packaging error results in it being labeled Rodimus. Flip your package over and see of it's labeled Rodimus. I bet it's not.

Also, that figure isn't Powerlinx Hot Shot. this is just the regular release Hot Shot from Wave 1 of the Energon line.

Powerlinx Hot Shot is the Hot Rod-esque redeco of the Armada Hot Shot mold.
