now i know that this Megatron has gotten alot of hate-his toys werent all that great. his Alt. mode was made up and some people didnt like it (i did), his plan was a little strange, he wasnt in the movie all that much, and he died fairly quickly. but i gotta say, i liked him alot. he had a very menacing presence on screen, i thought his Alt. mode, while Alien, was still a cool design, and his bot mode was exactly what id hope to see of an evil tyrannical ruler. but what really gets me is his dialogue. everything he says when he speaks, and the way he says it, is just bonechilling. i was looking through the quotes on IMDB and came across a few that just reading them and thinking to how he said them... just wow. and while not the classic Megatron design, he still looks incredibly menacing. and from what we've seen of a few quotes from the novelization or w.e...wow. i cant WAIT to hear him and Starcream get into the banter... i think he's just going to be more pure awesomeness on screen. this is kind of a Megatron Appreciation thread. anyone else like this Megatron alot?
so do i-no offense to Frank Welker, but i wish Hugo had done the video games-the G1 nostalga is cool and all, but Hugo Weaving's voice is just... bonechilling
I love Megatron, and his movie incarnation. I like the idea of him being a ruthless monster, but I still think he's very intelligent as well. Hugo Weaving is a great fit.
So do I. Weaving's voice fitted what we saw on screen perfectly. I'm looking forward to seeing a VERY angry Megatron indeed in ROTF.
I think ROTF will really be Megs' movie!! When you kill of the "harbinger of death" and drop him in the bottom of the ocean, he's bound to be a little pissy when he gets revived.
I like him being evil and scary but he lacked inteligence in the first movie. Most of his screen time is spent clawing and grabbing for the Allspark like a mindless beast. He did get a few cool lines though.I hope he's just as smart as scary this time around.
MOVIE Megatron is one of my favorites, always loved big brute leader characters, specially when they've got a slighty mental problem.
The one moment in the latest trailer, when he appears behind Megan and groans. Very chilling and menacing. I can see Welker doing it and it sounding like an old man......"straining".
He's my favorite character in the movie universe. He's a ruthless brute of a Megatron, I can't wait to see him unleash his anger in the new film.
I like his ROTF mode even more than the TF1 version! I like Movie Megatron a lot, his design is pretty cool, and so are both of his alt-modes. The voice is good, and I think it suits THIS Megs quite nicely.
im guessing that, if he really is fairly intelligent (and id say he is, considering he leads the Cons) that he was more like a mindless beast because he had been chasing the Allspark for a while, then came so close, then was frozen, then unfrozen and refrozen (if you count the prequel novel) then was forced to live next to the Allspark, unable to get to it for years, then reawakens right after it leaves, with him not far from it at all. he was so close he could taste the power, and just lunged for it
This time around, Megatron has a few improvements in his design, but I'm still not that keen on how he looks.
I liked the first movie's design, but Megs v2.0 really brings out the brutality that is the leader of the Decepticons. Design-wise, I love the nod to Transtech that his alt mode has. It's a giant jagged tank with jet engines that looks like it could tear up a racetrack. Robot mode is visually appealing, with the contrasting arms and the tread feet. Just a great design overall. I know the fandom wanted Welker to voice Megatron, but Weaving is so much better on so many levels for this role. Really, Welkers voice in the game just didn't fit the design. Agent Smith for the win. Also... +++SPOILER ALERT+++ Just imagine if the Fallen would make Megatron a Prime. Wow!
