Hi everyone, I'm trying to figure out if I can use only an Energon Barricade torso all of the Fansproject Bruticus add ons to create what's seen here: DO NOT HOTLINK IMAGES Is that doable? I'm just concerned that if I buy the Munitioneer/Explorer add on with all it's essential parts + the 2 recolored, part-less FP releases (flameblast/Warcry) + an Energon Barricade Torso... I'll be missing some fiddley crucial piece. Any advice would be awesome and apprecaited.
The torso part was the most expensive for me. . . I bought an Energon Barricade then picked up someone's extra helicopter/tank mold from the Bruticus set. So the helicopter is tan and the tank is brownish, but it still looks pretty good. If you can find somebody who has the extras it will probably be cheaper to just get the alternate molds than the FP repaints.
I know you're going to run into problems with the not-Swindle foot, because the foot parts from one complete Crossfire set (Swindle/BlastOff) are only designed to work one way; there's raised pins on one of the feet that can only go on either the jeep or the tank, while the other foot does not have those pins (I can't remember what goes to which figure, though). I think what you'll need to do is get two complete Crossfire kits to use the second set combiner kibble to link up the Flameblast/Warcry repaints. Frankly, it would be cheaper just to get the Energon limbs that were repainted into Brawl and Vortex (they're not hard to find) instead of getting the FP repaints.
Cool. Thanks for the info everyone. I pilled the trigger and picked up the 2 core FP sets, along with the individual warcry and flameblast ones via Toy Arena, which still had them all in stock. (Sheer madness on the cost of shipping $60???), but those, plus an Energon torso, and I'm still comming in under $350 for the figure. That said, if anyone has an extra ROTF or Energon Barricade torso, or tank leg or Helicoper arm from their FanProject enchanced set that I could buy, please drop me a PM.
you'll have to improvise a connection for the white shuttle, like what's done in the picture you posted. It's probably not going to be solid.
Vangelus' review showed as much with Flameblast. Im still happy I picked him up though - Ive always wanted a white space shuttle Transformer. I'd still love to pick up a mold of Vortex tough to attach whennI handle he figure though.
That's what I meant with needing two of the FP Crossfire sets, so he could have a foot that could work with Warcry as intended for the original use of the mold. Tracking down mold of Vortex shouldn't be too hard. If you're not picky about colors, there's probably still a few Swindle-choppers out there that people don't want anymore because of the FP kit. And if you're still looking for an ROTF Bruticus set all the same, have you tried the Junkion forums? Or at the very least posting a wanted thread? I'm sure you can get some help that way.
getting the swindle and blast-off from the ROTF set should not be too hard, along with an energon barricade that is what i am using, it works just fine
The Original bruticus (Energon or ROTF version) came with 2 different tank-like legs. Can I use this one for the "left" leg (the non-jeep one)? Or will I run into problems?: DO NOT HOTLINK IMAGES TL;DR: Do both of these original tank limbs connect the same way to the FansProject Feet? I only have the one above incomming, not the greenish one. DO NOT HOTLINK IMAGES
Update: (Not my photo, used for reference) I got my Energon Barricade in the mail yesterday, and assembled the Bruticus Maximus + FP addons + Warcry and Flameblast (redecos of the Shuttle and Jeep from Fansproject. They fit really well! For using the Helicopter-arm socket on the 2nd shuttle, it holds/slots in well. The coverings that fold up can be adjusted to overlap onto the FP arm socket flaps slightly to make up for the lack of chest-pegs that the Right Arm socket has by design. As for the Left Leg, Warcry (red-brown jeep) fits well, although sits 1mm or 2mm higher (but not noticeably so). I felt like that knee-connection was looser than the left legs, but it could just be my 2nd hand Barricade's connector port on that leg. The whole figure survived the shaking-test, so I'm happy. Also: if you combie the hand-holders together (since they're unused with 2 shuttles for arms), you can place one of the swords/Bruticus Daggers in it to display Japanese-sword style. I'll be sure to post finished pictures of everything once I finish repainting/customizing my Barricade. (I couldn't stand the blue torso, heh).
Yeah. I like see it. I just assembled mines ( don't have a camera right now) and the blue does look a little off imo since everything seems brown on mines. Oh well. Its still Bruticus Classics at its finest!
im using the energon version of barricade...and honestly i think it looks better than the ROTF one....in fact im using the energon purple helicopter and dark green tank as well for vortex and brawl and they look fine to me...
I read a thread about the color preference earlier this week... It all boils down to personal preference. Im actually in the process of repainting and customizing my energon barricade into a Rolling Thunder style army green prime, complete with a modded classics head.
Definitely boils down to personal preference, but it is really hard to say that any combination (and there are TONS of them) looks bad with this set. It improves on the original SOOOOOOOOO much that no matter who you use as a body/arm/leg you're gonna be extremely pleased with the results. Whatever color/bots you use to finish off the FP set, it's full of win. Period. All that being said, I lucked out and got the ROTF set dirt cheap and I just LOVE the way that everything color coordinates with the FP sets. Wheels, weapons, gaunlets/hands/feet/new head for Brut. Whether you use Vortex and Brawl, or Swindle and Blastoff as the left arm and leg to go along with Onslaught, Munitioner and Explorer, you can tell that this is the set that the add ons were designed for. But that's just my preference, and I am more than a bit biased since it is the set that I have. But like I said, there really is no combination that looks bad. Or at least not bad enough to keep you from grabbing the Explorer/Munitioner sets. I'd even go as far as to say that they are worth grabbing even at the $200 price tag that we are seeing now.
