I left my comp on while I went to get dinner, and when I got back it said that AVG had finished uninstalling. Trouble is that I never told it to uninstall. Any thoughts on this?

That is just plain odd. I've heard of viruses taking over specific anti-virus programs before, but never outright uninstalling them.

Never seen a virus or trojan just uninstall an AV app before, kinda dumb since you'd be aware of some weird behavior. You sure it wasn't just someone else messing with your comp?

My AVG said it needed to restart to finish the update process. Nothing new or unusual about that in itself. But AVG was always non-responsive afterwards. I just re-downloaded it and reinstalled and it fixed all the problems.

Yeah, I reinstalled it, got all the updates, did a scan, and now it's working again. I have no idea why it would randomly uninstall itself. And I'm pretty sure that no one around here tampered with my comp, since I left it in my locked dorm room.

AVG 8.0 was released recently; maybe something fritzed in your auto-update and tried auto-installing 8.0 over the old version? I dunno.
