    It was awesome.
They had a lot to resolve and they did about as good a job as they could have. Fantastic emotional payoffs for Cap and Tony. LOVING the idea of Thor in GG3.

I actually loved the pacing. It felt like a proper movie, and I really appreciated that they took the time to explore the impact of the snap. Absolutely stellar. Theater went nuts for the end of course.

    The question is, where next?

Just got back. Overall, an excellent wrap-up to the Infinity Saga and a great capstone to the MCU as a whole, as far as I'm concerned. Not as good as Infinity War, but that's a hard bar to clear. Some flaws - see below - but still really good. 8.5/10.

    Good Stuff

    - Great send-offs for both Captain America and Iron Man. Fitting that Tony - the first MCU hero - is the one to finally defeat Thanos, even though it cost him his life. Going to miss RDJ in the Iron Man role, but this worked well for the character. And Cap gets the reward of living the life he dreamed of after his sacrifices - there's also the option of movies/shows following his adventures in the past and/or while returning the Stones...as well as returning Thor's hammer - there's definitely a story there.

    - Although their stories aren't necessarily done, Hulk and Hawkeye both had good conclusions to their arcs, as well.

    - Epic final battle. The audience in my theatre clapped/cheered at two moments in the film - when Cap took up Thor's hammer and the 'Avengers assemble' scene. All the various characters from all the films together on the same battlefield and everyone had a moment to shine. Awesome. I can see re-watching just that battle over-and-over again. Wish it was a bit longer, though.

    - A good amount of humor. I think the MCU movies can get a little jokey sometimes, but this had a better tone and was more fitting for the darker atmosphere of the movie after the events of Infinity War.

    - As noted, this is a good capstone and send off to the MCU. I don't feel like I *need* to watch any more Marvel films after this one. It wrapped up the overarching plot, most of the major characters got a fitting send-off and there wasn't any future plotlines teased. It was a fun ride, but I feel comfortable leaving this as the last MCU film I watch.

    Bad Stuff

    - I thought the first 60 - 90 minutes dragged; basically everything up until they actually start going back in time to retrieve the Stones felt like it went on too long. Would have preferred that be shortened up and more time added to the final battle.

    - Captain Marvel...whew, that was bad. I definitely believe the rumor that they edited this to remove her as much as possible without disrupting the plot. She has little screen-time, few lines and what non-combat scenes she's in, spends the whole time standing around with that wooden resting-bitch-face expression - even at Tony's funeral, for god's sake. If someone else (a surviving Nova Corps member?) had rescued Tony/Nebula and someone else (Thor) had taken down the Thanos' ship, she could have been written out of the film entirely.

    - Rolled my eyes at the charge of the 'grrl power squad'. Between this, the attempt to hype-up Captain Resting-Bitch-Face and most of the torches being passed to 'diversity' characters, it looks like the next phase of the MCU might be going full SJW/woke. This is also part of the reason I don't feel compelled to watch any more MCU films after this one.

There is a legitimate reason why they did this plot wise:

By right thor was the most qualified guy to wear the gauntlet - but because he was in no mental condition hulk did, keeping in mind this hulk is somewhat depowered compared to rage hulk. If thor had performed the un-snap, he might have been strong enough to retain the gauntlet (remember the stuff he endured for stormbringer) and I’d imagine infinity thor would have put away thanos handily and we wouldnt have need that spectacular final battle.

Edit: and since i see some enquire why the need for smart hulk - for this same reason. Cant have rage hulk in control of the gauntlet.

Agree with all of your “good stuff.” Disagree quite vehemently with your “ bad stuff” as follows:

-Pacing: The slower pacing of the first half of the movie is what makes it work dramatically and emotionally. Without it, the final battle wouldn’t have half of the impact. Moreover, they’ve earned the ability to tell an actual story and explore character, not merely throw bombast on the screen.

    - Captain Marvel: At its core, this is a film about the emotional and narrative arcs of the original Avengers. That’s why she plays a secondary role. Don’t worry, she’ll be more fleshed out in future films. I don’t get the “wooden” criticism at all. She’s done a great job in both movies, and I look forward to CM2.

    - The last comment: Again, don’t get it at all. It’s literally one minute of the movie, and it’s absolutely justified in the context of the movie and the franchise. All of those charaxters (PP aside) are formidable warriors, and the idea of underestimated heroes standing up against evil is literally at the core of Marvel. Also, just for one second, imagine you’re a woman/girl. You’ve seen rows of male superheroes in similar scenes all your life. Now you can see yourself. It’s a small moment for them, and they deserve it.

I explained the theory in a post back but it bears repeating:

yes they created divergent timelines because of what the time heist, timelines that did not necessarily merged back with main timeline (with exception of tesseract in the 70s)

So events from the avengers 1st movie has itsown timeline now with loki escaping. The aether in asgard might be the same (but im not sure how theyd reinfect thors GF - maybe they just gave the aether to asgard for safekeeping. I find the idea cap just returning the soul stone to red skull hella funny. Like, we’re done with it thx haha. Power stone too cuz now the gotg in that tineline plays out differently.

This could be the mcu’s way of introducing parellel earths.

No Spoilers - but I'm watching Iron Man right now, and my god the call backs and even the minor things pre Disney takeover are so evident.

Well, it's been nice... but I guess someone had to inevitably come and ruin the fun.

Do you mean he had no growth before or after the takeover or that his growth was different?

I really hope not. No need for that.
