There was a line for Avatar quite a while back. Not for the movie, but the animated series. The figures were actually quite good. The only one I have is a spirit (clear) Aang, but the articulation is top notch.

The old Mattel Avatar line never made a Katara or Toph, glad to see this first wave of hopefully many from Diamond Select!

They didn't do a Kitara? Huh, that's surprising. I remember there being an Appa and a few others.

Mattel made a bunch of the male characters (Aang, Zuko, Sokka, Roku, Fire Nation Soldier, Admiral Zhao, Jet, King Bumi and some variants) but no female characters were made.

Well then, I'm looking forward to seeing what this line gives us.
I wonder if they're going to do Korra, then if they'll make Asami.

Yeah, there's a lot of in jokes within the fandom when it comes to Mattel not making a single female when there were five female characters just as important as a lot of the male characters. There was a prototype for Kitara, but it never materialized as an action figure. Plus a lot of the old Mattel line was laden with action gimmicks due to being aimed at kids and only kids.

I'm im for these new figures. Looks like Aang has an alt head optiin not mentioned in the description so hopefully we see alt heads for the other two as well. Plus, Aang could use an air effect of some kind too. Be really cool if Diamond can get us a full line of characters from TLA and TLoK.

I saw these being listed on Entertainment Earth's site the other day, I believe, and thought it was neat.

Yeah, reportedly the powers that be at Mattel doubted the popularity of action figures based on the female characters in the show, which is, of course, erroneous thinking.

I'm glad Diamond Select is giving us Katara straight out out of the gate with this Wave 1 of figures. I'd love to see Toph in Wave 2 as she's my favorite character out of both series.

Ugh... hates off to Mattel man... even when this line was going on (I remember seeing it in stores around the same time as Transformers Cybertron) the notion of "boys won't play with toys of girls" was an outdated notion.

And add me to the Toph asap crowd. :lol  She's so no nonsense and easily one of my favorite characters. I happen to be very partial to Zuko though as I feel like he had one of the best character arc over the three seasons. Also, is it sacrilege to say that I think Aang is overrated and got off waaaay to easy in the series finale? :lol

I'll repeat what I said on the Toyark site regarding these: for years I've wished for higher-end collector-oriented ATLA figures. I've always pictured them coming from a line like Figuarts or Figma. Now they're here.... and they're from Diamond Select. I feel like I made the wish on a monkey's paw.

Nevertheless, they look pretty good! Not perfect, but certainly the best-looking articulated figures that have been done of the characters. Not that there's much competition. And as beggars can't be choosers, I'll be picking these up and hoping for the best. I want to support the line, in the hopes of it lasting multiple waves and filling out a nice beefy chunk of the cast. And hey, if that encourages a Japanese line to take notice of the franchise, all the better.

Toph can be full of nonsense too, it just has to be her brand of nonsense (remember her shtick as a thief with Sokka and stint as a pro bending wrestler; plus all the countless ear, nose and toes pickings). :lol

Speaking of Sokka, I guess they (potentially) stuck him in Wave 2 with Toph and perhaps Azula (my prediction), so there wouldn't be two Water Tribe figures with primarily blue color schemes in the same wave, and to keep each wave a bit more diverse.

These look great. ATLA is one of the greatest cartoons ever made, and I wasn't particularly thrilled with the initial toyline.

If you could only buy 1, this would be the fig to get. :lol :

    XD

Ooh. You know who'd be cool to have? Ty Lee, Mai and Suki.

Also, Koh the Face Stealer. He can pal around with Murdermus Prime.

Also hoping for Appa, Momo, Pabu and the Owl Librarian.

Ty Lee, Mai, and Suki would be awesome to get too, but I suspect Azula and Ozai would get figures first before them.

Iroh would be awesome too but I'm not sure if pauchy old man with beard would be considered a great seller? (Don't get me wrong, I love his character and Mako was stellar voicing him.) Maybe I'm being a little age-ist. :D

Koh would be nightmare fuel to see in figure form.
