I just looked through the WWI comic, and I didn't see the name Optronix mentioned anyhwere. Or Orion Pax for that matter.
Glad to finally see Megs without his 'Hat'! *Must..resist..temptation to harass Don with questions* I hope we get some better detail shots of Megs, where is the Toy Fair held?
I think he is called by name all of twice in the first issue. Try looking around about when pre-Op Op is talking to Prowl in the archives. I've got to say, this guy looks pretty sweet. I'm already reserving shelfspace for him and his brethren.
I'll rephrase that. "They did not use Don's War Within Megatron design." Glad you've become a toy designer Don. I was wondering if you were getting paid for your designs when Optimus showed up. Also that Jetfire is based on your Macro Master Strikefire. Now if only Takara Tomy can make a deal with Hasbro for your Liger Leo Convoy design. It coming to toy form a TF and Zoid in one. I wish.
The name "Optronix" is not used in the comic itself. The name originally stems from a few interviews Furman gave before War Within #1 came out, and the only time it has been officially used thus far was the "Hardwired" novel.
Hmm, considering the lack of the trademark trailer, does this mean this figure is the pre-matrix version of Optimus Prime or will it be an addition later on?
I thought it was also used in the big hardcover guidebook that came out about two years ago... btu I can't be stuffed pulling mine out atm to confirm.
LOL isnt botcon in late september thats not very encouraging, implies that Op, Megs, Jetfire and TC will be the only Titanium figures released for the next 7 months. BOO!!!! And with the the G1 revamp/classics lines not coming till around then too more BOO!!!1
Y'know... if they are gonna do weird poses with these titaniums then I woulda put all the movie character in their respective crouching/aiming upward poses from TF:TM's cover art. I think that would look awesome.
You would be correct Misatokitty, the name was used in the Transformers Ultimate Guide, which was written by Furman. So the name for Optimus Prime, pre-prime, in the comics is Optronix. Nevermore is correct in that it was never used in the comics themselves, but since the ultimate guide is penned by the same man who wrote war within, it's safe to say officially that Optronix is the name. and so ends my extremely redundant post
Man, I'm so happy they made a WWI Prime figure! That Megatron is looking lots better too, I might have to get these guys!
Very excited by the 6" titanium series; hopefully, they will expand on this if sales are good... Still not impressed with the 3" line. Even though Don confirmed that Megatron is not the WW version; I'm still seeing some similarities... (Prime & Megs should look good side by side in my collection).
