Was going to ring around today to see what I could track down at BigW, but stopped after the first with some information:

Firstly, they can't really check whether they have Galvatron on the shelves or not. He'll be in their systems under the same codes as Megs and Magnus, so unless the person you're talking to knows what they have or is feeling nice enough to check that won't help. Also, because of the sale they won't be putting anything aside for anyone - especially not the Kingdom Leaders as they sell too fast.

But they did let me know that they were expecting more stock later this week. No specific day, no specific items (though definitely Transformers), and every store could easily have different schedules, but it could well be worth checking in on Thursday and/or Friday. Who knows? It's such a big event if they get stuff that isn't supposed to be out yet there's a very good chance it'll just go out.

Some Big W stores are getting Galvatron in. I went to Big W at Gungahlin, ACT, and I found one Galvatron on the shelf.

I picked up my Shattered Glass Blurr from EB Games yesterday and made a rather surprising discovery - there is no Shattered Glass - Shards #1 variant comic book included in the box.

I've read through both threads on this forum with "Shattered Glass Blurr" in the title ("Pulse.com entry for Shattered Glass Blurr & Shards w/comic" & "Shattered Glass Blurr - In Hand Images") and there is no mention of the comic being excluded from the Australian allocation.

I went back to EB and have put in a request for their Loot Buyer to look into this.

Was this known to anybody else who pre-ordered their SG Blurr through EB Games? Or am I the bunny here for not realising that EB's "strictly one per customer" release would just be the toy alone?

I recall reading within the last week or two that the comic was only if you got it directly from Pulse. It's hardly an official source but it does make at least some kind of sense, even if not the good kind.

    Via OzFormers.

Thanks for linking me to that. Being posted only on Facebook (which I don't use) I would never have stumbled across that crucial information.

If I'm interpreting the post correctly nobody knew for certain that we wouldn't get the comic until the product had already arrived in buyers hands.

I took mine back to EB Games and got my money back, which they were happy to offer when I first made the inquiry.

SG Blurr is a nice enough looking figure, but I paid $45 for a toy and an exclusive comic, not an inferior version missing 50% of the product.

Am I the only one who finds it odd how difficult it is to obtain copies of the stories upon which this product line is founded? Is there a reason Hasbro hasn't made the SG stuff more widely available?

(yes, perfectly well aware that you can get it all with a little effort from pirates, but isn't that just underlining the issue?)

Nothing new at Big W Watergardens (VIC). Still lots of SS Deluxes, SS Voyager Starscream, old Kingdom Deluxes. No Kingdom Galvatron.

On a different note... It appears Lockdown is not an exclusive to Victoria. :(

It's an all-too-familiar song but - as always - respect to everyone doing it tough in lockdown.

With any luck you'll be back out on the hunt, stalking toy departments again, before you know it.

I've been thinking about it and I see two likely reasons.

    1. Licencing. The Shattered Glass story material probably only had a very limited licensing contract, covering distribution at the relevant convention, via the fan club or select distribution channels, for example the Diamond Edition Botcon/OTFCC comics distributed by Diamond to comic specialists.

There was probably no need to make the license any more comprehensive than that, because of the niche appeal of Shattered Glass and the very limited edition nature of the toys.

    2. Hasbro probably won't want to reissue any of the older Shattered Glass material because it won't be complimentary to the new 2021 IDW mini-series.

The character models, based on older toys, are directly contradictory to the WfC-centric designs and who knows how the worldbuilding will differ.

If the 2021 Shattered Glass comic mini-series is wildly popular and sells incredibly well maybe there could be interest in putting a TPB of the old comics out as a curiosity.

However, I don't expect the new comic to be a runaway hit, even if it's good. The toy buyers who can get their 2021 Shattered Glass toys from Hasbro Pulse won't need to go buy the comic because it will come packed in with the toys, so their contribution won't count to comic sales.

Maybe they'll buy a digital copy for reading on their devices, but that's probably it.

    Shattered Glass
isn't bold or different enough to break out to the larger comic-reading community, so I expect sales to be similar to the sales figures for IDW's other Transformers spin-off books, such as Galaxies or Escape.

    Nope.

On the other hand, I've not (yet) received the "sorry, we didn't bother ordering this properly from Hasbro" e-mail that I got for Galvatron (and which lots of people have now also received for Wreck-Gar).
