I made this crudely drawn, but "functional" take on how G1 megs could be turned into a sawed-off riot shotgun. I chose a shotgun coz it gives a little more body to use for the robot mode, and the handle is thicker so the legs are chicken-thin (since a riot gun is handled by gloved police, the handle is quite a bit chunkier). Any 3P designers wanna take a stab at this design, it's yours. Not even asking for any compensation (although a free figure would be awesome! hehehe)... key to the transformation is the robot body slides out, the arms also are on a swinging "Y" that allows them to snap into the sides of the chest. trigger slides into leg, thighs are thicker than MP5, and it still is undeniably Megatron, still has a gun mode, but I think it works better than a nickel plated pistol. (Yes, mods, I realize this could kinda be considered "Fan art" but it's not. it's crude, cheesy concept art at best, and I wanna make sure those 3p companies on the boards have a chance to see it.)
not a bad idea. that's an acceptably intimidating weapon. I could see myself buying something like that. I think I would rather have a G1-style tank Megatron with a G1-inspired altmode though.
I wouldn't mind seeing proof of the transformation on Shapeways as a gun MP Starscream could hold. Then it that works, make it bigger.
Nice effort. My issue with Megatron as a gun is it undermining his position as leader. He is useless unless wielded by an underling. Galvatron 'fixed' this by being a self sufficient firing weapon.
I sorely miss the g1 Meg's gun platform that was made out of his gun parts kibble. It got what, no screen time, and I don't ever remember seeing it in comic book form. Was kind of the equivalent to primes trailer base mode, minus just about everything primes trailer did and focusing on "gun" platform. Meg's being a gun does not bother me. It's impractical sure, but it made him a fun toy. I still have a minty g1 Meg's for display cause who does not want a gun bot to show off. Maybe g1 Meg's needs a classic update to say a desert eagle. Or maybe the magnum Barret used in residents evil 1. Thing was huge. The classics nerf maverick update was a nice try but ultimately a fail. Zero intimidation factor.
MY issue with Megatron as a gun is he doesn't fit in the hands of any other figure and only fits into the hand a real-life person. Sure... maybe that was cool when I was 7... but no thanks. Even less fun is a shotgun that's... how big? He might as well transform into a toothpick holder.
Megatron fires himself in at least one G1 episode. He isn't totally helpless. He does so in Ultimate Doom.
Several, and in the credits, and several times in the Marvel comics. He can fly in gun mode in the comics too.
Well, the shotgun I based this on is a REAL SCALE, 1:1 mini riot shotgun, and would scale perfectly with mp10. Mp soundwave transforms into a tape recorder that only fits in human hands... Guess you find him lame too, right? Double standards? I, too, prefer a g1 colored tank megatron, but whenever the topic comes up, people repeatedly whine that if he isn't based on a gun, he isn't megatron, I thought I'd come up with an alternative that scales well and gives a little more to work with than a nickel plated pistol. I want an mp megatron for my collection, and hasbro only gave me an out of scale, chicken legged piece of crap. 3p seem too scared to do megatron. Sure they'll do a crapload of Optimus primes, predakings, etc, but the ultimate TF villain is somehow to gutsy to take on. Don't blame American toy laws, coz they are easily circumvented, and besides, 90% of 3rd party toys are probably purchased outside of the USA anyway.
