I picked my copy of it yesterday. When I'm done with Dragon Age, and then my second play through of Mass Effect before part 2 comes out, I might have 5 minutes to actually play Assassin's Creed 2.

Picked it up yesterday too, and holy crap is the special edition huge! Should have seen it coming with an 8.5 inch statue being in there, but it still shocked me when I picked it up.

Now to just find the time to play the damn thing.

Anyone do the Uplay (press Y on the main menu) stuff? I think you have to have a ubisoft account but you get rewards for certain things. Starting Uplay gives you 10u, u being the form of currency, the first achievement gives you 20u (I believe). There are three or so other achievements that also reward u.

Currently AC2 has four rewards. A non-premium theme for 10u, extra throwing knives for 20u, an Altaire costume for 30u and and exclusive uPlay map for 40u. By time you finish the game you'll have enough to unlock everything. Pretty cool little reward system.

As for Ac2, I like it a lot. Much more so than the first and I really enjoyed the first.

I've been renting AC2 and holy crap, it's such a improvement from the 1st game! There's a lot do in the game and the side missions this time are just that, side missions! Also the side missions are more fun and the reward is worthwhile (extra $$$, sweet). I think the only grip I had is one thats similar to the 1st game, I can have like 15 guards surrond me, and I have whipe the floor with all them going through a flurry of attacks and counter attacks. It makes me rarely want to run away from the guards when I could just kill them all instead. At least you still look really cool while doing it. Although, running away from the guards doesnt increase your infamy, where killing them does, which in turn will make you want to do things to lower your infamy.

There's alot thats going on in the story, one of them unlocking the clues left behind Subject 16. The more I discover the more disturbing things are becoming, I think, I could just be over-analyzing on whats going on but in fears of spoilers Im not talking about it here.

EDIT: Forgot to add, but I think its really cool that the game gives you little bits of info about the history that goes in Itality. Like if you pass by a significant building, you are provided a breif description about it, same goes with people.

I agree a little with this, but the single play seems sooooo long. They drag it out. I know they're trying to make it worth it the money, but it gets to the point where you forget what you're doing and why. I'm at the Carnivale part, trying to get the golden mask. Am I even close to the ending? It seems between escorting Da Vinci and then testing/using the flying machine was a bunch of pointless filler :lol

The assassination levels seem a lot more lackluster compared to the other game... you could sneak up on people and kill them with a couple of chases for other assassinations.. but this one is ALL CHASES. When a fat dude is jumping across buildings like Spider-Man trying to avoid you, it's a little lame. Also, unlike the first game I can't actually figure out who I am assassinating and why most of the time. It's just like.. chase after this dude because he's IMPORTANT TO THE STORY GO GO GO! I often catch myself trying to figure out who this old/fat guy I'm killing is. I've been paying attention, too!

I'm enjoying the story, and I intend to chase down as many of Subject 16's symbols as possible.. but other than that, it's a definite rent and a play once kind of game to me. Hopefully the ending will be awesome, though.

Just beat it a few hours ago. Really trippy ending.
The game kinda pissed me off though. I didn't get any of the achievements for the last 2 missions (Including the one you were supposed to get for figuring out all 20 of those Glyph puzzles). It's as if my achievements just stopped working. Thought I'd reset my Xbox to see if it would do anything, and it sure did do something! It erased ALL of my AC2 data. So now if I want those achievements I have to go through the whole game again.
I have no idea how this happened, nothing was wrong with the game up until then. Hopefully its just a glitch or something that can be worked out.

Holy shit, I just finished it about 5 minutes ago, what a ride. I loved the first one, but this one eclipses it in so many ways.
I've been away from this board too in case of spoilers, and because I've done nothing this last weekend but murder my way through renaissance Italy.

Now to hoover up the last 5 trophies I need. I'm not normally an achievment/trophy junkie (well, not any more anyway) but this game is that special I need to get 100%
So, off to find those bastard feathers...

So, I lied to myself and rerented the game, I said I was gonna buy it next. I just finished the campaign and OMG the ending is amazing! Basically, the crazy bat shit that happened at the end of the 1st game has nothing compared to what happens in this. It's a cliffhanger ending, but it's a good kind of cliffhanger ending. Not the crappy kind Halo 2 had, also probably the 1st Assassins Creed too now that I think about it...

Despite me completeing the story and almost having a 1000/1000 on it, Im gonna buy it.

    Horse carriage chase with Leonardo..

How far am I in the game?

I've killed all of the Pazzi Conspirators, and I have only like 2 targets left? have I much left to go? Will I get more targets?

You've still got a fair bit left, This gets you to the flooded area (can't remember the name) right? Then you'll go on to Venice, which is massive and has quite a few more targets.

Anyone got a decent map for the feathers? the one I found was off on a few of the locations. I just need all the feathers and the cape you get from that to get all the trophies.

Oh, and what's everyone's favourite weapons? I think mine's the poison.

OKAY. I beat this. The ending was very... odd. To say the least. I started off pretty meh towards the game, but I grew to like it. I had to kind of wrap my head around the ending... it definitely took an unusual turn. The final boss fight was incredibly lackluster and pretty lolwut. Even more lolwut than the last one.
The idea of humans before humans with almost alien-like technology that were magically wiped out and made more primitive humans.. really? Really?

I just felt like this game had less direction than the first. I often forgot what I was doing and why, and everything in the middle seems pointless to the story. The assassination dialogue was also very short compared to the first game - and I think that made me forget who I was killing or killed and why. It was just jumping from one person to another, following the objective points. Another big problem - SO MANY ESCORT MISSIONS. Honestly, you're an assassin. Not a bodyguard. The missions weren't even challenging -- all you had to do was walk as slowly as a snail and waste 10 minutes walking slowly to a spot like 20 feet away. It seems sending Ezio as a bodyguard is a bad idea, since the guards only attack you anyway. They don't bat an eye to the people you're escorting.

I also had a problem with the controls - while climbing I noticed they could be pretty unresponsive, and I'd be falling from building a lot more than the first game. I'd try to raise myself just below an edge to kill something standing on the roof, but instead Ezio would jump right up next to them all "o hai" only to get a spear in the face.

It's an absolutely beautiful game, and exploring makes up for everything else. I love the scenery between cities, it's so green and pretty. The cities are beautiful, but then again with Italy you really can't mess up its natural historic beauty.

tl;dr: Definite rent, maybe a purchase if you feel like playing Grand Theft Italy or want to collect the millions of things you can collect for delicious, sweet achievements.

Beat it as well. Good game. I'm close to 100% on achievements. Just need the 5 man sweeper, need 37 more feathers (THIRTY SEVEN?!?) and then wear my cape in each town. Then this game can go trade in..
