It really does look beautiful. I'm not even a big Grimlock fan and I'd still like MP-8X. Unfortunately, the only listings I've seen have been $500 or more.

I paid $300 for MP-10 and it was worth it, but I'm not paying more than that for any masterpiece again.

 

We might be able to secure another small amount of AE MP-08 for the state side. We are still in the talking process. Currently the price for AE MP-08 in China have sky rocketed!!! Most likely every transformer collector in china is trying to get their hand on it. Its really hard to snag it from them.

Just curious approximately when I can expect to get this. This info black out is bc they don't want to spoil surprises before the beijing toy show, right? I googled beijing toy show 2013 and only found a bunch of nonsense about maternity crap.

We're being told over here not to expect them early. The show begins on August 15 and Grimlock is the star at the show. So the earliest ship dates currently seem to be middle August. taobao agents that didn't secure their shipments early are being told they won't receive anything until end of August.

This is the first exclusive I can think of that's been completely hidden until release date so I'm extremely curious what they've done with it.

As for modifications, well, I wouldn't look for much more than the box. I mean, I could be completely wrong and the thing come in gold chrome but I think some of the "info blackout" comes from the fact that if we knew too much, many folks might just say, "Well, that's a lot of money for just a different box..."

But like I said, I could be wrong.

 

I hope its mp8x or a G2 colored one.....that would be epic. The only question is, blue G2 Grimlock or Turqoiuse?

Hasbro Asia is crazy about custom paintjobs. It's one of the events they have at their conventions. I hope whatever they come up with really just pops. It's hard to compete with the metallic silver paint on MP08x but there's a lot of cool things they could do with Grimlock using traditional Chinese reds and golds.

 

Damn I wish I had enough cash to have pre-ordered this. Can't believe I'm missing out on mp grimlock again.

It says he expects to have them in stock next week and he'll put up some photographs with accessories.

Edit: I just talked to the seller and he says these are ordinary MP08 without package.
This supports the people that think there is nothing special about this outside of the packaging.

Edit Edit: There are at least three sellers on Taobao selling loose editions of MP08 for right around $155 USD. They don't have them in hand and they're saying whether it is Japanese or US version is unknown.

 

Taobao is a shady place to be if you don't know what your looking for. I would tred carefully in that place. Its no eBay when it come to protection.
