A few of us posted this last week, but it’s just news now? ♂️
Hey Hasbro, if you're reading this it isn't too late. You can sell this through Pulse/Selects.
I'll buy one. You can even charge me double, like you did for Zetar and Nightbird.
Beast Wars fans are desperate for ANYTHING.
Ikr? I think it's because Jesse wittenrich posted on twitter about it,
Honestly I'd rather they expand the line and do some new stuff with it. There's money to be made in giving us a mix of BW callbacks and beast modes for G1 characters who didn't already lend their name to BW.
I agree with you. I think what we would have gotten had Ultra Magnus or Shockwave won would've looked quite different from what we got in Siege. Time will tell whenever those designs finally get leaked or shared by Hasbro themselves someday. We know John REALLY REALLY wants to show us Hound...
are you sure? "Because the poll was "Who will be the next Prime" not "Which figure should we make." We were picking who'd be the SDCC Exclusive, and Hasbro lucked into us picking a guy who was already slated for retail anyway."
except there was a very obvious shift in design philosophy between the prime wars and wfc. greenlight and lancer are the only wfc figures that were intended as prime wars
A. notice i said hasbro, not takara or funpub, hasbro. victorion was an additional retool.
pyra magna's mold had already been used as hot spot, onlsaught and g2 onslaught
the helicopters had already seen use as alpha bravo, blades, vortex and g2 vortex
one of the cars had seen use as breakneck and deadend, which got remolded and reused as prowl, streetwise and smokescreen
the other car got used as breakdown, sunstreaker, wheeljack and g2 breakdown
victorion was like the 4th retool for some of the molds
omega has titans return and wfc connectors, trypticon has titans return connectors but not earthrise and i absolutely love how you somehow know that scorponok also has titans return connectors despite the fact that we've only seen his head in robot mode
so you're saying you know for absolute fact that primal prime wasn't originally going to be the sdcc release? i mean what makes more sense, a legacy repaint or a new repaint of primals season 3 body in season 1 colors?
A. wheeljack and spinister lost. that doesnt mean mirage and impactor didnt see a 2nd release
B. wheeljack and spinister were both slated for earthrise wave 1, spinister got pulled forward (this was evidenced by @Jtprime17 finding spinisters listings with an earthrise tag before earthrise was announced), so spinister wasnt supposed to be in siege
C. that tetrajet needlenose wasnt concept art, it was from the card game, which uses wfc designs, older designs (such as t30 trailcutter despite there being an earthrise hoist), and some of their own designs. If I recall correctly, tetra jet needlenose was confirmed as a card game original design, not a tease of something to come
yet warden expressed surprise and shock that primal won
rodimus is the only one with partsforming, and it is only his arms, which still works entirely differently than siege leaders. the fact that you can't see the difference in the trailer becoming the entire body aside from chest and head (potp) and the core figure being the chest, waist, core of the arms, core of the legs and the entire joint structure with clip on armor is pretty surprising
except as I've said, the designs would have to be massively reworked. combiner wars ultra magnus with perfect effect pc-17 core magnus is more in line with what a potential power of the primes ultra magnus would have been than siege ultra magnus is, simply by way of how the core robot combines with the trailer
That’s from the new art book. I’d have loved for that to be released. Especially if they did Ape-Linq as the smaller form. Maybe someday in Selects...
So if warden wants to show us Hound...why doesn't he?
A little surprised we didn\'t get this deco instead of the S1 colors. Aw well, I never knew how much I\'d dig that deco if they never did them.
John Warden wanted someone not from the 1980s as a mainline figure.
It was considered SDCC exclusive?
Thats a shame, I always adored Primal Prime.
I hope this sees a release one day, Gen Selects is the perfect fit for it
The black throne of primes was sdcc exclusive in America
gotta sell them clearance of the prime molds to keep investors happy
Neato. Shame it didn't see the light of day, as Primal Prime is awesome.
Anytime they don't, historically it's because they may be saving it for a later release, sometimes years down the line in a completely unrelated line. You'd be surprised.
Wasn’t expecting a news credit, but thank you.
To whomever did that, someone else posted new concept art of Cheetor in ‘The Last Knight’ in the Beast Wars toy thread.
I think it's likely there are concepts and ideas that persist for years. I'd even go with the idea that work may have started on Apeface back during Titans Return (although they added greebles and 5mm ports here).
But I doubt Siege Magnus or any of the leaders or Titans have directly reused designs intended for prior lines. Concept art? Maybe. A 3D headsculpt somebody worked up gets reused? Quite possibly.
Whole figures? No. I don't think they get that far along very often with unfinished figures, particularly not complex ones.
Even if, say, Apeface or Wheeljack was designed with a prior line in mind, I'd bet the original versions were not completely finished and that draft files got tweaked for newer releases.
Separate names with a comma.
