Ok I know this has been done before (a lot actually) but I wanted to sorta make a step by step on how to make this guy articulated.

First we have the 2019 Reissue figure in front. D83F3A88-B43D-4975-B949-02302C84AB45.jpeg

After a long process of removing the legs from the axel of both the wheels, you’re left with the chrome thighs. Cut it and make it a flat surface, then drimel out some of the support beams.

I used the deluxe classics leg pieces for the swivel here. (It’s a little big to fit inside at first, so shave some of the extra plastic away until you get the perfect fit!)

    Yay!

First Leg done! Now the same process on the left one.

I’ll be updating this post/thread with more details when I get the time.

I love these customs. The G1 figures, especially the early ones, have this great oddball aesthetic to them once articulated that just appeals to me.

Yah, I’ll be following is thread. I literally picked up an “used but nice” Prime to restore this past weekend. I think I’m gonna try this instead.

How did you get that front axle out?

I didn’t, I took everything apart, and then carefully cut the legs off the axel

It’s a tedious process getting the springs out between the legs and the wheel but you just have to be patient with it.

That makes sense. I imagine you’ll need that space for the new joints anyway, so none of that stuff will be used going forward.

He’s saying he thinks you should have used a junker.

I’ve always wanted articulated G1 OP, cough 2D: G1 Toy Optimus Prime cough, so I look forward to this. I’m going to have to try this one day.

Nice. I've done a couple G1 action masters with the jump starters. Twin twist and Topspin.

It’ll have a waist swivel, but I don’t think it’s possible to fit an ab crunch in the small space of the torso

Hah only kidding waist swivel is plenty. I’d be keen to see someone do a crunch though.
