Heavy/Scratch: Articulated G1 Optimus Prime *updated with articulated fists 1/05/09*

    I actually got the LEDs from Radio Shack, they were the square type, the round ones won't fit, they're too deep. Then I found some small 1.5 volt watch batteries, and staggered three in each arm so they didnt interfere with the original screw posts, and installed a small switch in each elbow. I used styrene as battery holders/insulators, and found a piece of thin stainless steel that I cut into strips, to connect the batteries in series, totaling 4.5v.

    I would unscrew the arms to take a pic, but it would screw up the forarm stickers:( , so ill have wait until the batteries are dead. But if you look in a couple of the pics, you can see the switches at the elbows.:wink:

    I know I've already seen and commented on this, but let me take advantage of the bumpage of this thread and repeat how awesome this guy is. Especially with the headlights added. You really went all out on a character that has totally benefited from these upgrades. :)

    hu? it already opens at the chest. the new years prime takara reissue came with a matrix, too.

    Hasbro really should update the G1s by giving the original figures articulation like your works. Then that would be a TRUE "Classics" line!

    nice works..indeed is not the first but when u can pulled out sumthing like this...it is quite genius..i once done this but the hips/groin make my Prime a little bit gap when transform into truck...can u reveal the hips/groin mechanism?if can show pics it is better..

    I've been expecting a tutorial for this almost a year now, man you work is good, if you do not feel like telling your secrets for free, prepare video turorials and make a DVD I would buy one!
