In Europe you get the following:
-Mostly expensive figures (20€ and up for a deluxe nowdays, so don`t complain about 20 bucks)
-not really all waves from a line
    -exclusives, what are those?
    -that must be it

So yeah people complaining about not getting certain figures or things is just funny for me (and maybe other European collectors) because we have to deal with that kind of situation for a long time now. Unless you had a Toysrus around your town your chances of getting certain figures from a mainline in a retail shop where slim.
Despite the fact that Europe and Australia where the reason why Transformers wasn`t canceled after G1 had ended in the USA but renewd with G2.

Wow this looks full on! I remember my hotel during one trip was at Ikebukuro and near Sunshine city. Wish I had time to set aside for a visit, but alas... studies.

Shame I won't get to Japan until at least June this year, I would have loved to have seen it. These kind of pop-up events are just glorious if you can get to one. I was fortunate enough to get to the Madogatari event (Studio SHAFT's anniversary event focusing on Madoka and Monogatari) in 2016 and it was incredible.

They don't usually allow photography at these kind of events, but I hope we get to see some of these "previously unseen" display items somehow!

And Japan hasn't really had them for even longer. The USA still has more Comicon and other such exclusives, though.

Most of the official TF events I've been to in Japan allow photos.

Being from the UK, moving to Japan was definitely a step up to improving my TF collection. TFs were really rare in the UK.

I don't, though. When I went to the USA a few times, I came back with some great, USA only figures, most of which were exclusives from Toys R Us, Walmart, Target and K-Mart. Even now, there are USA only TFs (such as the recent Nitro Zeus/Thundercracker) that I would love to get sent to Japan, but the shipping fees are prohibitive.

The USA gets more than its fair share of exclusive TF content.

Wonder if Amazon U.S. is going to put the book up? I've ordered from Amazon JP before but not for a while.

Speaking of the book, does anyone know if it is new art work, or if its just a reprint of the Legacy art book that came to the US a few years ago. It looks very much like Legacy except with Japanese text.

As would I. Transformers does have a place in Japan, but it's no where near as big as Gundam.

Doesn't look to be a reprint of legacy, but I don't expect much more in the content area. This book has some interviews, catalog scans, maybe some batch recognition, but overall similar in scope to Legacy. I can see some liking this book more due to the clean backgrounds.

I’ve been living in Tokyo for 10 years now- I’ve seen the rise of popularity in the TF franchise little by little, but steadily, since 2009 or so. I hear from people here that hardcore collectors in Japan went from being only interested typically non-Transformers sci-if toy series well established in Japan, but are now heavily into TFs in an unprecedented way. Add to that the fact that most collectors in Japan (otaku) are single & unmarried (meaning: no kids) at a very high percentage, making their disposable income allowable to spend on collectibles higher than any other country per (collector) capita, IMHO.

For those who have never been in Tokyo, if ever you pass by you will understand within your first day when you arrive, how the collecting scene is off the charts here.

Hopefully, its some other events going on while you are there. Last time I went there was a Gundam expo happening and that was pretty cool as I was just getting into Gundam. I'm going to try to make it back this summer and try to go to wonderfest this year.
