Just as long as he keeps his shirt on.He's gotta be all flabby, and I really don't want to see his man-boobs.
Cautiously optimistic. Praying for a good script and good director. NOT the team that put together Conan 2011. If not for Jason Momoa, that movie would have been unwatchable. Edit: Conan fans are apparently in a lather over this And I thought the movie forums here were crazy
I liked it too, but sometime about aging actors doing action-adventure films is just kinda sad. Same principle applies to aging rockers with new albums, the fire just isn't there anymore. What was so unwatchable about it? The plot was pretty much an origin story (with an excellent way of wrapping up the entire story of Conan becoming, in the end, the warrior that his father trained him to be), and the structure was your standard action film. Acting was decent all around, and the film didn't attempt to make a family-friendly Conan. Me thinks Conan fans were really wearing their nostalgia goggles when watching that film, cause the originals were far from masterpieces themselves.
This is great news. I haven't really liked a Conan film since the original. I especially didn't like the 2011 movie. It had some good fight scenes, but I thought the dialogue and the story were pretty bad.
I'm a big fan of the original Conan stories written by Robert E. Howard, and I remember reading that 2011 movie would be a more faithful adaptation of Howard's Conan than we had seen previously. Sadly, I did NOT get that impression. Granted, it was a better movie than some reviews gave it credit for being, and definitely better than the abomination that the members over at conan.com seemed to think it was. I thought Jason Momoa portrayed a truer Conan than Arnold did - not only in terms of strength, but agility and quickness to boot. If Momoa had worn blue contact lenses, he'd have been even more convincing. I really felt that the script and the director were not what a Conan movie deserved. Taken as a sword and sorcery movie, it wasn't bad - perhaps a good B-movie. But as a Conan movie, it was not what it could have been. There are some truly great stories written by Howard that could be adapted - "Queen of the Black Coast" being my favorite - and do very well I think, in the hands of people who are passionate about the material. My hope for the Arnold movie would be to see an adaptation of "Hour of the Dragon" or "The Phoenix on the Sword".
I also remember Rocky Balboa. Arnie as an older, slower Conan. He's won and lost many fortunes, loved many women and conquered many foes but now he's just an old man living his glory days over. Until an opportunity is placed before him; one last chance at dying a glorious death on a grand adventure. If they took that sort of angle and wrote accordingly, I see myself enjoying it. Sadly Basil Poledouris is no longer with us, but I can see John Powell or James Horner creating appropriate scores.
haha, great answer is great. My two fav Arnold roles are his Conan and Dutch from Predator, so I'm delighted that we'll finally get to see old King Conan.
while i did like the 2011 movie, the arnold movies were far better. so i am looking forward to it for sure!
I liked the new Conan. I'm pumped to see Arnold come back, and I'll definitely be going to see this one in theatres. I think people need to understand that it's a good thing we get these movies coming out, because it extends the franchise. I'll take 5 crappy conan remakes if it gets us to eventual good writers and more interesting stories. Same goes for alien flicks.
