Yeah, for some reason, I think this figure will look a lot better with a more unified colour scheme. Though I would still go for a drybrushed steely silver, over a coat of aluminum silver. I find the silver sprays sometimes have the effect of washing out the impression of detail. But that's me. zmog
Yeah, light colors do wash out details. I'll cross that bridge when I get there. Oh SMOG, I remember you saying you wanted to use a ball joint in yours for the torso. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v288/Arianne02/PICT0045-2.jpg These doll armatures are pretty perfect for that, I used a large one on my Ridley custom.
Not just light colours, but I was thinking of really shiny finishes. A flatter metallic tone might work better, though it depends on the spray aluminum paint. Some go on better than others. Wow... what strange little balljoints. How big are they, and where do you get them? I have a bunch of different-sized balljoints culled from various toys over the years, but I've never seen anything like those! zmog
I buy them on ebay. They're nice because they are very cheap, tight, and indestructible. They come in a lot of sizes. They're the same type of flexible plastic tubing used in fish tanks too I guess. Yeah, I intend to use a flat aluminum like MP Megatron.
Cool, I'll look up those joints. Thanks! Can't wait to see the painted result! My own, similar Megatron project is beckoning me to finish it finally. zmog
Awful picture, but I've sprayed all the gray parts of him a matching silver. I just wanted to commemorate black Megatron before I turn him into G1 Megatron for cash. He is going to be one of the BEST representations of his G1 character ever.
I love the big chunky look of a gun barrel with tank treads. Very, very cool design, reminds me of the concept art for Transtech Megatron.
Just sprayed him out. Still have a good amount to paint, but he's nearly finished. He's pretty much a hybrid of IDW's earth and cybertron modes.
Finally finished. And for sale. Sculpted a hand from scratch to hold the severed Megatron head. Swaps out with magnet. Please see the detail, it's awesome.
Sweet Megatrony Jesus, that thing is gorgeous. And how. The tank turret "resembling" a handgun is giving me some ideas.
I gotta admit that I wasn't expecting to see that. It even took a second and third look on my part for it to sink in as to what it was. Definately out-of-the-box thinking. Way cool.
