Are the original Takara reissues still worth anything? I'm talking about the likes of Predaking, Megatron, the Anniversary Prime (blue eyes, matrix), Ultra Magnus, Six Shot, etc.

Because they're old and transformers are made out of cheese.

Because they have been reissued a million times since then, and since I am debating on whether or not to get rid of them, I wanted to know for sure to help my decision along.

I'm assuming the same goes for the purple Galvatron reissue?

check ebay? I guess depends which reissue you are talking about too. Some are more valuable than others.

Personally I'm not in it for the money, just wanted an affordable MISB version of the originals I had when I was a kid.

I think I overpaid for most of the 1st takara reissues back more than 10 years ago, now you can get a G1 commemorative Optimus or Soundwave for under $60 but I paid around $90-100. But they are the "OG" of the reissues if you will. And the Megs doesn't have an orange tip!

Honestly, ebay doesn't seem to help. I see something that selling on ebay, I post it on a forum for maybe 70% at those prices and then people complain my prices are too high.

The reason I'm asking is because my interest in Transformers has dwindled down to nearly nothing.

eBay's free listings are skewing everything because you can list at crazy prices forever and not be out anything when it doesn't sell.

I'd like to pick up that Diaclone-colored Ultra Magnus reissue but not at the prices it always shows up for (~$400).

Im trying to piece together my TFC reissues. Im noticing that im paying roughly 60-80 for any one figure. I picked up TFC reissue Prime #0 on ebay for 200.00. All these figures are still MISB too. So i know that line still holds some value.

It would help to know which ones specifically you had in mind, but generally yes you can still get something for them.

Anything that hasn't been reissued since and/or could still be viewed as the definitive version (anime-colored Galvatron, Ramjet, Thrust, New Years Optimus w/the Action Master) still can attract decent money from what I've seen. The Diaclone/Microchange stuff also still attracts money. For stuff that's been reissued since, yes you won't get mega-bucks for them but they haven't bottomed out in price either.

    Its not the same line.

Reissues first wave: OP, Megs, Screamer, UM, Sixshot, Rodimus, Hot Rod. All relesed in their original packing with a golden faction sticker on the box. These were the first reissues.

    Then come TFC.

    Then come Encore.

and in between a whole lot of Ehobby and a few New Years reissues.

When you look at eBay, are you looking at what's ongoing, or are you looking at successfully completed transactions? Anything not over and done with and successfully sold is pretty much worthless as pricing data.

And then you have to take out a few BIN or high priced anomalies. There's always some nutcase willing to buy something at double the price, but that doesn't mean everyone is, so it's better to take in a range, rather than take the highest sold price point as the one everyone is willing to pay for.

this to all. Obviously, and just to add, you can always use other means of getting a price check for older and more desirable Takara reissues, namely Mandrake / Jungle collectors shop/ Yahoo!Japan auctions or check out TFW2005's site sponsors and members from the Junkion exchange.

Oh, and I'll gladly take up your offer on that reissue Takara UM if you are kee on selling still. :D

They are worth what someone will pay for them, just like any other TF out there.

Oh, and don't collect toys for the "investment". Speculation markets have a nasty tendency to fluctuate erratically.

I think the old reissues like Megatron have doubled in value. New reissues like Predaking and Sixshot might not have doubled in price but they must have retained most of their original value given how much they cost.

The ehobby reissues are creeping up and some of the Takara original reissues are as well. The Hasbro reissues tend to cost less.

Ah the Takara premium :)  Just curious though, aside from like Prime and Magnus who got shorter smokestacks in their US releases, were the others that different? Can't imagine they should be priced that far apart if they're the same figure with a different piece of packaging.

The TFC reissues had chromed weapons while some of the earlier CS reissues (Prowl, Jazz, etc) had black weapons.

Of course both Jazzes had that awful sneer so go for the Encore if you're collecting opened toys.
