I remember that in New Recruit and Darkest Hour, Insecticons were taken out in about 5 shots. But why? The Insecticons barely showed up in New Recruit, except for the beginning which in where they died in about 2 shots.

But in Darkest Hour, even a Helicopter. A HUMAN HELICOPTER, took them out. Fowler took like, 5-7 shots.

So, could someone answer my question?

 

Like the Vehicons, the Insecticons have suffered the cruel fate of becoming weaker and less threatening as the series went on, ignoring the fact that the earlier ones, like the one Megatron fought, were much tougher. So it's not so much the insect mode is weaker as it is the whole damn breed are now much weaker so our heroic Autobots can smash them apart without a care.

But there is one thing I'll note; like real insects, an Insecticon's wings are vulnerable to damage, given how rather thin/fine they are.

 

I don't think the insecticons are in a "weaker" mode but more in a very limited state or clumsy and not very agile.

 

I think you've got it pretty spot on. The Decepticons start out seeming all deadly only to get less threatening as the series goes on. Even Starscream went from killing an Autobot to being the clown of the series.

 

Even with the whole the insecticons strength was equated to how large they were, it's pretty much what Meta777 said.

Vehicons in TWOS TWOS used to give the bots trouble. Now the autobots are like Rambo running around the field shooting wildly and the vehicons are like dominoes. Breath in their general direction and they fall down.  

 

No. Their strength seems purely dependent on how the writers need their strength at that given moment. Sometimes they can almost kill Megatron and other times they're just Vehicons. One time Arcee and Bumblebee struggle to kill one during another episode, another time the same characters can take them down in two shots.

 

The episode where Airachnid unleashed the entire swarm on the Decepticons pissed me off because of how everyone reacted to the swarm. The Insecticons were set up as these vicious, nearly indestructible monstrosities of super-soldiers that even give even Megatron a nervous twitch - and that was just when they were dealing with ONE AT A TIME - and everyone's reactions to an entire horde of them were irritatingly calm considering individual Insecticons put them through all kinds of hell.

 

Ah, my dear Rayzilla, the reason they're so calm is because they know that the more bad guys there are, the less of a threat they will be  

 

^ This precisely. The inconsistency upsets me a little since I really do like the Insecticons. I just don't understand what's so hard about writing them at the same overall strength throughout the entire season. It's like they don't keep notes...

I can see the same thing happening to the Predacons, too. Autobot killers at the start of the season and three episodes later they're rolling around on the floors of the Decepticon citadel begging Shockwave for belly rubs and energon treats.

 

I have to agree there. It's such a shame that such cool designs are so weak these days. It's the same with the general Vehicons - early on they gave the Autobots trouble, but as time went on, they got weaker and weaker.

 

I think the term 'weaker' is out of place. They are just as strong but are Not as well suited to fighting so in that sense Yes they are less of an adversary in flight mode.

 

nope, just sum ol' writers don't exaclty know how insecticons are suppose to be in the show and use them as fodder during certain episodes.

 

Will the Predacons suffer the same fate?

 

Considering the fact that they turn into fucking dragons... Let's hope not, Shockwave better have put some logic into this, and the writers.

^until about the 3rd to last episde then bye bye Predicons one by one, we knew ye very little thanks to poor character development.  

 

Why do people think that all Insecticons are clones and exactly as powerful as each other when both the show itself and the show staff already said some are stronger than others? I mean Hardshell's entire character was being kind of an Insecticon celebrity and the one that fought Megatron was much taller than the ones that we see strolling by the base.

Honestly I like the idea that the more mass produced something is the weaker and vulnerable they are.

 

The vehicons became the autobot's bitches by "Darkness Rising" part 3 which is unfortunate.
