I ask because Megatron apparently didn't bring any with him when he went to find the Omega Lock - just Vehicons. I know Wheeljack blew up a crapload of them in "Hurt." One more died in "New Recruit" and I don't think we've seen any since. Correct me if I'm wrong.

 

I think it was more about playing smart. Bring the Jet Vehicons with him in case issues would appear, which they did. But also have Insecticons forces remaining on the ship in case they found the Autobot's base and use them to attack them.

 

Their was one when Smokescreen was using the Phase Shifter to escape the Nemesis a few episodes back.

 

No, unless they all spontaneously burst into flames during Patch. Cause there was one during episode 49.

 

Don't they still have a hive somewhere? I thought Megatron went to them in one episode. But I can't really remember.

 

Does it make more sense to bring your stronger warriors into battle? Hell he coulda even split them up brought a mix of Jet Vehicons & Insecticons if they aren't all dead.

 

Oh yeah, I had forgotten about that one. I guess there are still a few left, but probably not many.

Now that I think about it, there were some in "Legacy" as well.

 

I doubt it. The writers probably forgot about them like they did with Wheeljack, Fowler and June.

At least Megatron was smart enough not to bring any regular vehicons with him. I wouldn't have much faith in him if I was a vehicon.

 

Presumably, since the mission was merely to restore Cybertron, since there was no possible way the Autobots could reach it, Megatron didn't need to bring the bugs and simply stuck with the good old Vehicons.

The Insecticons are likely hanging out in that room where Megatron had first been introduced to Hardshell, simply chilling, waiting for the next time they are summoned.

 

I found that odd too. But then, I found it odd that the Jet Vehicons would give up their flight advantage and just cluster on the ground like morons when the Bots pressed their relic-powered surprise attack.

 

This. Smokescreen ran by/through him and he was like 'wtf?' and that was it. But it's true, I'm kinda irked Megatron didn't take any of them with him. If he was gonna have Vehicons carry the keys anyways, might as well bring some more muscle, regardless of whether or not they became cannon fodder...

Megatron had no reason to expect the Bots on Seibertron so he left the majority of his forces on his ship where he would have been more likely to expect an attack and where they could defend the Decepticon space bridge

 

Pretty much this. I got the impression he brought an escort with him to 1-Document that it was he, Megatron, who resurrected Cybertron, not the Prime and 2-Deal with any dangers that remain on the planet (Scraplets for one thing, rouge Insecticons for another). He was very much surprised to see the Autobots there.

 

It kind of seemed like Megatron was going for some sort of honor guard rather than needing protection from anything still living on Cybertron. Take along some Vehicons so someone can witness Megatron's moment of glory and can back the story up.

Or it's possible the writers just forgot about the Insecticons. Some times they forget characters like Soundwave are part of the show so it's seems they might forget about a troop type.

 

Megatron had to fly to the spacebridge so he only took Jet Vehicons who could keep up. Insecticons don't really seem like fast flyers so he'd have to slow down for them to keep up.

 

Smokescreen ran through one while on the Nemesis in Inside Job, so they're still there. Just forgotten about...
