Arcade cabinet restoration?

    So... This was an easy fix.

    I read on other boards that old arcades sometimes stop working due to corrosion. So I unhooked every molex connector I could find and cleaned the contacts.

    There is actually two boards here, they are sandwiched together. Contacts are on the upper right side:

    Dip switches and year of board. Pretty cool:

    Hooked everything back together. There's a red LED on!

    I've got video for the first time! But what's this? Looks like a test screen, I can cycle through the various sound effects. I later found a switch inside the coin door to exit this mode.

    It's playable, but there is significant image burn when playing, the Xevious logo is permanently there.

    Looks actually kinda cool.

    Screen burn is well known on this game. I have a Namco collection cart for DS that includes Xevious and one of the special features is it can simulate the image burn. Kinda funny.

    That's hilarious! Just for that, I think I'll keep the monitor as it is. The picture is still crisp and the colors are vibrant. Amazing considering its age.
