And the regular 3G Iphone is going down to 99$ for the 8gig. I don't think the differences between 3G and 3Gs are enough for me to buy it, but the video recording is pretty damn nice.

Wish they'd sign with Verizon. Then I'd buy any kind of iPhone. But I'm stuck with a Touch for now.

The only reason why I would get the 3GS is for the enhanced camera. Otherwise I can keep my 3G and throw 3.0 on there which has the features I really wanted anyway.

I don't believe so. The only thing they said is that it had better supportfor Javascript and HTML5, but that's just in regards to the OS. The big upsides I see to the new iPhone is the faster processor, better camera, and higher capacity and I'm still not sure that warrants $299.

I was expecting something more substantial than the slightly improved camera.

I think they are going to be pushing "speed" with this one and not so much the new and improved camera. The up to 2X faster downloading and opening of apps is what they will market.

Without a doubt as there were a lot of useful ones. for 3.0 OS, TomTom is releasing a app for turn by turn directions. You can purchase a car mount and it'll play your ipod music and charge it at the same time

This is a good thing, because my Scion game with direct Ipod support, and while it works with the Iphone, it doesn't charge it. This, coupled with the new GPS style will work wonders. Still a proud Iphone owner, but maybe I'll wait until the next hardware to upgrade.

$99 seems mighty tempting, and I don't really need 3GS's video camera anyway. But what's holding me back is the monthy rate; I heard that it's about $70 a month, for a 2-year agreement. Is that true? That's quite expensive.

All those new features will be available on the 3.0 OS for the iPhone 3G so I am real happy with my Current Iphone 3G and will wait till the next iPhone upgrade.

Since seeing everyone with an iPhone at BotCon, I'm considering getting one myself. Though I'mma wait to see if it's going to be available with Verizon.

Having just got the 3g in November, I will wait until upgrade time for the 3GS as opposed to paying the 218+ upgrade price since the 3g was subsidized. Heck by that time they will probably have done a whole hardware revision and since 3.0 is coming out on June 17th it will be like getting a new phone anyway.

Apple also released Safari 4 today. I had been using the beta and it's pretty fast and stable. DL'ng the official release tonight...

That's what I read. It's just that next year is so long to wait. :(

If you bought a Iphone 3G last year then you really shouldnt be looking to upgrade yet. I will be looking at what they offer next year, as this will be when eveyone who bought the 3G last year (like me) will have their 2 year contract running out. With as many 3G owners as there are (much more than 1st iphone) there will be a real push to have something really nice to get us upgraded with a new contract next year.

All the news stories I can find talk about rumored "high level" discussions and how Verizon screwed up not taking the option years ago.

And honestly I'm considering dropping Verizon as my bill keeps floating up around 5 dollars a month.
