Gradually filling out my list of favorite characters I'd like to see in TFA, longshots though they may be. Both still retain their triplechanger status, but they're no longer headmasters. And instead of both turning into fighters, Apeface is now a heavy bomber like Lugnut, with a dual cockpit. I pictured them as guns for hire, acting like Latin gang members, complete with Spanish accents. But snapdragon doesn't talk all that much.
I absolutely love Snapdragon, but Apeface is a bit off...I think it's the overtly complex design and how he's so blocky, not sure though.
These are very cool... you should consider doing their beast modes as a follow up... the hints we can see of what they'd look like is pretty bad ass : ) Tom
You might want to shorten Apeface's arms a bit. Other than that, they're cool. I want that Snapdragon in toy form.
I think the Latin gang members angle is pure genius - those two look like they could've stepped right out of Cybertron's answer to the L.A. barrios, and their faceplates strongly resemble those cloths I've seen real-life ghetto thugs wear tied across their faces. The only issue I have is that Apeface's robot mode doesn't seem all too removed from his beast mode, although I could be wrong. Can't wait to see altmode pics!
Exactly the look I was going for. Unfortunately, that's mostly the case. He's got a very TFA Waspinator/TM2 Cheetor Transformation. It gets complicated when you have to keep track of jet parts and ape parts. But I like how he still remains apelike in robot mode, showing him off as a big bruiser/thug.
These two have had a special place in my heart since the 80s, so it feels awesome to actually SEE updated versions, and you've done a fantastic job. The only changes I could suggest would be that Snapdragon needs to be bulkier - that body type is fine if you have a Velociraptor beast mode in mind for him, but if you want to stay true to G1 and make him an Allosaurus, then he needs a more hulking robot mode. Other than that, his overall look and pose drips with quiet, surly menace I'm just not FEELING Apeface though, he's a little too far detached from his G1 self, and looks more like a new character - think about re colouring his head, add more white to his torso, and he needs a green cockpit and red wings, THAT should help hammer home who he is. I'd love to see their alt mode pics if you have them, and again, great job!
