With AOE's seeming lack of (true) Decepticons, I am glad to see the DOTM deluxe Starscream mold makes one more return. Personally, I like this movie seeker mold the best - I like it even better than the Leader class : because the deluxe's legs actually fold ingeniously, and the only extra-volume it carries on the jet-belly is really centered, whereas, the belly volume of the Leader class F22, only gets more wide and thick towards the rear, which is highly uncharacteristic of the real F22's tapered rear shape.

While I was OK with the DOTM packaging design, I do prefer this new style.

I really love this little movie seeker mold ! This should have been Starscream's toy form in 2007 already. You can see a bit of the 2007 deco on his wing assembly on top. For the rest... the robot mode deco is a bit plain/plane ;)  I do have to say though, the amber canopy looks fantastic. If you look closely, the outer edges of the canopy have actually been painted to match the overal grey.

Armed & Dangerous ! Although, without functional handles, the melee parts of the weapons don't make a whole lot of sense.

Robotmode rearside. I still appreciate that molded in turbine engine detail.

Another nice shot of Starscream's robotmode.

Posed together with DOTM Starscream (slightly custom painted). Who's cooler now eh ?

Jetmode ! The actual star of the show. This is where most of the 'new' deco shows best. The 'decals' look pretty nice too.

Maybe mold degeneration or maybe this particular one just has a bit of a warped air-intake :(

Weaponized Starscream looked good, but.....these weapons actually look better on AOE Evasion Prime !

I really ought to look into picking this up, that mold was one of my favorites from the movie lines.

They were originally from simplified Transformers Prime Deluxe Smokescreen.

Aarghh!!! That's a 2-pack right?' Darn it' I was thinking of getting the TakaraTomy version because it has better paint apps but I prefer my Optimus to have the visor!

By the way, thanks for posting that picture! :)

Looks good. Makes me wish I would've jumped on the MPM Starscream before it was wicked expensive...

I was thinking about it. I never had an issue with the tatoo'd Starscream look, but his clean jet mode here is positively gorgeous. Even so, having already owned DOTM Starscream, Skywarp, and Thundercracker and looking to offload them, trying to pick up a fourth version of a mold I'm already admittedly fatigued by doesn't come off as the wisest decision. Thinking I should just let this one pass me by and appreciate it from afar.

Thought the paint apps were bland until I saw these new pics. Nicely done, thanks for the review Op! Might get this and give the axes to another figure, meanwhile this can use the Blaster's from Top Spin

Nice pics and review. Kinda funny this is packed in bot mode, since most people would agree that the selling point is the Jet paint.

Kinda disappointed by the robot mode paint apps. Way too pale compared to the jet mode, to the point where it looks like somebody took rubbing alcohol to the DotM version. Some more gray would have really helped it out.

    While that seems true....

Do note that the outer edge of his canopy is painted, there's parts of the grey camo pattern on his chest, the middle-top of his head is painted ( DOTM simply has it unpainted "bronze" plastic ) and the side of his thigh legs feature the "bronze" metallic paint.

The Silver Knight Optimus that everyone 'hates' in another thread probably has more paint on it than this. Looks very bland in Hasbro grey plastic. Much prefer the tattoo DOTM version.

Biggest issue I have with him and the Battle Blades Prime with that orange plastic.

    ayy this guy gets it.

some of my biggest peeves with figures are random black/brown/gold plastic. it's almost always out of place and... gross.

I could point out to this picture....
you can see the bronze coloured parts ontop of the fuselage top, just before the thrust nozzles.

The "brown" plastic on the toy is meant to 'emulate' that metallic bronze.

Takara did indeed include the correct bronze metallic paint:

Anyway, I do admit there's a bit too much of the "bronze" plastic, so I did something about it. Hint : Switched out the thrustnozzles.
Also..... I found the "collarbones" to be too dark ; painted them silver. Overall, I still wanted to make it look as if it could have been factory made, not a custom painted TF.
