During the scene where Optimus shoots at Cemetery Wind, we see Lucas effectively jumping for cover. Did Optimus already knew Lucas unintentionally betrayed him or was it a mere coincidence that he shot in his direction? PS this thread can be deleted if it is deemed unnecesary
Optimus wasn't trying to shoot ANYONE, he was shooting NEAR them to disarm and drive them away. The shots near Lucas were also near Cemetary Wind soldiers and helped him get away from them. Lucas just dove for cover because pretty much anyone would, that was the point.
There's a lot of debate about wether Prime was shooting to kill the cemetery wind guys, shooting to NOT kill them, or just shooting and not really caring where the shots landed. (To me it seems the latter ftr) But as Mad Max as the MV Prime has become, i'm still sure he wouldn't deliberately shoot dead a 'mostly' innocent, unarmed, meatbag!
If he didn't care where he was shooting that would mean if he hit Cade or Tessa he wouldn't care. Considering he came out of hiding to save Tessa from getting shot that seems highly unlikely.
I dunno man, bullets that big, even without a direct hit I'm pretty sure the shockwaves alone would do them in. It's basically a small artillery shot.
i like to think he is actually shooting at them. i mean these guys are obviously shown to be cold blooded killers who actually want to kill him/autobots and were about to put a bullet into a teens head for info.
Ahh.. okay yeah i mean sending his shots in the direction of cemetery wind, and not being concerned about their mortality.
If Optimus wanted to actually shoot those guys, he would have hit them dead center just like he did Attinger even though he was in the middle of combat himself. As you may recall, he hadn't yet FULLY given up on humanity at this point in the film. Plus, believing he was trying to kill the Cemetery Wind soldiers robs his speech about resolving to kill Attinger later in the film, despite his vow to never harm humans, of any and all meaning. It's QUITE clear in MANY respects that he was NOT trying to kill ANYONE at Cade's house.
Considering what a crack-shot expert takedown guy Optimus is, and that he effortlessly nails Attinger at the end of the movie with a quickfire shot mid-battle that avoids Cade who is right next to him, I'd say if Optimus was actually aiming at anyone in that scene, they'd be toast instead of just roughly tossed away by impact explosions. So basically, the fact that Lucas was still alive is proof Optimus wasn't aiming for him.
That's a good point I hadn't considered. He also took down that flyer in DotM without destroying it so Bumblebee could use it.
"ill kill you!" is literally one of the first things prime says in tf4 to me, it was obvious prime was shooting to kill..the scene where he shouldercharges the vehicle full of cemetery wind guys...highly unlikely all, if any, survived that..he also had cemetery wind guys inside the barn that are never seen again...the reason the ground is shot & not the actual humans is because of the same reason attinger is still a full corpse instead of blasted into bits (pg-13) but those guys are for all intents & purposes killed by prime.. & in regards to his proclamation post leadfoot death scene...he is stating that he is intentionally going to murder the human responsible for this (even though he has no idea attinger is the guy responsible..he only kills him to protect cade)..so we can see just how far optimus has come through 3+ films..that he is now openly speaking about murdering humans..that doesnt mean he hasnt in the past (for example the mexico city betrayal) & his actions say that he is willing to now intentionally kill humans if they pose a threat to him or his 'family'. ratchet also takes at least one cemetery wind operative with him
Can someone capture a few frames so we can see clearly the trajectory of the shots. Then if we can just accept Split lips theory that Primes a crack shot, we can say for sure what his intentions were!
I don't think he shot to kill, but rather to disable them. Although, with how hard some of them flew in the air, that could've easily been a kill shot.
