Good thing that person kept a pretty new transformer rather than sell it. (End sarcasm)

In their defense, they may have stood in line to be one of the first to get it so that they could sell it to buy other TFs. Depending on how the sales go, they could get a lot of other figures for their efforts.

Personally, assuming they didn't steal it, it's their business what they do with it. Should we get pissed at store owners for "buying" goods just so they could turn around and sell it for a profit?

Also, you had to buy $250 worth of tf aoe toys in order to get this "free". So they would have to sell it for around $300 to recoup ebay fees, shipping costs, and all their $250 worth of purchases. Probably just trying to get the aoe toys for "free/cheap". Can't fault anyone for that.

True. But I live in a town where scalpers are married to nurses and all they do is sit outside of stores before they open to snag rare figures. So the pessimist side of me might be assuming here.

Given the hoops it appears someone had to go through to get one of these things, I don't see what's wrong. Lucky draws and lucky-draw-level campaign releases in Japan are nowhere near the same as brand-new and/or shortpacked figures in the U.S.

I'm not going to buy it. Not worth the money when I can buy the retail version.

I'm still trying to figure out why that makes those scalpers more nefarious than, say, ones married to teachers.

    Ebay:
Sold for $270 + $25 shipping (Assuming the buyer doesn't back out, it happens a LOT even with good feedback). Now take into account fees from eBay and Paypal, and the little percent on the shipping fee too...So it hit a little less than $250 in the end.

Depending on how long the dude had to stand in line to get the item, seems like a decent reward for the effort.

Dude. You are taking this toy thing (and an apparent desire to control people's lives) too seriously. You also seem to have some deep-seated issues with specific individuals and institutions in your town, which can't be healthy. It's their business whether they're married to a nurse, a teacher, or a millionaire.

Scalping, re-selling, etc. is a part of commerce. It ain't going to change (at least not during your lifetime or mine). Get over it or remain bitter, your choice.

If it ends up as rare as it appears it could be, how is anyone stupid for buying it? I could understand if this were an plentiful, overpriced exclusive that just sat at online retailers for months and months, but I don't think this release falls in that category due to rarity.

If you're saying they're stupid because you simply don't like the look of the figure, that is...stupid itself. Different strokes for different folks and all that.

Each Party Location got 90 Plated Scorns - I believe there were 3 or 4 official Release parties, meaning there is 270 or 360 of these made.
