Well, I decided to try out the one-step line when I found Slash today. ALMOST got Hound because the bot mode looks really good, but I wanted a smaller Raptor for the dinobot team.

    Out of package:

    Comparison with deluxe Slash:

    And with Scorn:

Initial thoughts- well, it's basically Grimlock with different sculpting. Not bad, but not that much fun either.

Alt mode has NO articulation whatsoever but the pose is pretty Jurassic Park-ish. I do like that. The colors are also vibrant.
Bot mode has upper arm movement, which means the arms lift up. That's it. He stands nicely and is pretty stable, but having no articulation kind of does that.

Compared to the other dinos, he looks properly scaled which is why I got it.

Overall, it's an okay novelty purchase for a collector, and probably a lot more fun for kids (though my daughter thinks its hideous).

I was hoping he'd be a little smaller for scale, but I guess I might as well get the Deluxe. He'd have made a great Scout/Legends figure.

The color scheme mesmerizes me ; something very 1980's " candy " about it.....

Even though the alt mode has no articulation it looks better than the robot mode by far, and the colors are pretty nice. However I'd rather get the deluxe version. (I personally prefer the colors of the deluxe version as well.)

Your regular deluxe looks horrible with the arms like that. His regular arms are already super long, but that... that is ridiculous.

Oh well. It's my Dinobot 2 homage, and I like it that way.

I think what disappoints me most about these 1-step figures is that it seems as though they are the replacements for the Cyberverse line. I'd be okay with them if they were nicely articulated like Animated Activators (Grimlock and Megatron were pure win), but these have no redeeming qualities aside from half decent looking alt modes.

Totally agreed. Seeing these lazy things replace Cyberverse is a real shame.

Sure looks like it to me. Cyberverse is dead (except for some cheap repaints), and these are the closest equivalent now.

Are those (mechanical) feathers on the dino arms? That's awesome.

Just got this guy today. I like that he's not as gimpy as the One-Step Grimlock as he has the bigger arms and feet. And even in the green and blue he looks far more threatening than the One-Step Grim does. Slash's dino head is all 'Grrah!' while Grimlock's chunky dino noggin is all 'Gimme another burger! BURP!'.

I think the only downer is his joints and mechanisms don't feel as tight as Grimlock's do. Slash's robot mode legs and feet feel especially loose and rattly.

His green helmet makes me think he used to be a construction worker rather than a knight. :)

just found this review and you know? it is better than grimlock because he actually matches his deluxe counterpart piece arrangement, i mean, the transformation is obviously based on the deluxe (or viceversa)
but grimlock is forced because the way other molds transform compared to this one, i mean, front of the dinosaur as the robot legs, robot arms forn the rear legs, , tail on the back, it matches slash but definitely not grimlock, this could be the only one step i actually like
