Source: 'Transformers 4' Explodes for Huge $41 Million Friday at Box Office - TheWrap
Not bad though I expected it to be bigger.
Once again, the public has spoken. I wonder if critics ever feel as useless as the weather man?
Depends on how big the budget was. If it makes $400 million but cost $450 million to make and market, it'd still be a bomb.
Although I'm not worried. Paramount and Hasbro are still bound to make tons of money out of this movie
I read somewhere that it cost $210 million to make the movie. I think you add advertisements for the movie it might be more.
Nationally we don't know yet but globally it is definitely a success.
I hoped it would bomb so they would actually REMAKE it without bay.
The movie and story were horrid. And yes I just saw it.
Wish they would just do away with any humans unless they are getting blown up.
Man, I was hoping this would be like the 4th Pirates, with people just being bored of everything. I'm not even gonna see it cause I don't want to support it.
The fourth Pirates movie grossed over $1 billion Worldwide. So I'm not exactly sure what you're saying.
It's so nice to read people wanting others to fail just because they personally don't like it. If you don't like it, don't watch it, why be a jerk about it and wish misery on others?
My wife and I just got back from seeing it and we both thought it's the best one so far. More acting and more characterization from the Transformers, less insanity from the humans... not really sure what movie the critics are seeing, because they're saying the exact opposite, but whatever, I guess it's their job to hate it.
if this one bombed there would not be another one, it has already been stated movie 5 depends on the success of movie 4
seriously, this movie bombing would be the worst thing for the transformers fandom, why would anyone even WANT it to happen, even if you don't like the movies, the movies do so much good for us and hey this new one is actually decent
I don't like it, but that doesn't mean I want it to bomb. If it bombs, then that's going to likely effect the toy releases further down the road, and I don't think anyone really wants that.
If it succeeds, great... just wish Bay and Paramount hadn't bragged about it breaking records beforehand, you know?
Their job is to review movies, not predict the success of a movie and they just reviewed the movie so I don't see what you're trying to say here. If you're just another person who's for whatever reason actually offended by it being a critical failure, there's literally hundreds of threads in the Movie Forum that you can go in and talk with other like-minded people that actually think lots of money=good movie.
Who are you referring to as "others"? The people involved in the movie's production, who have already been paid? The bigwigs at Paramount, who are already insanely rich?
If you're referring to the movie's fans, then...wow.
This is so true I don't know what's wrong with this fandom sometimes. I didn't enjoy dotm but I was jealous not angry at those who did. This time I am on the other side and instead of being angry I feel sorry for those who didn't like aoe cuz I have been there.
Some people like mayo. I don't. If we argued over condiments like we do our transformers movies we would all die of hunger.
Yeah I was bothered by the pre-release bragging and Bay's response to the negative reviews. At least when ROTF was canned, there was some dialogue about it. But this time he kinda flipped them off and said "suck it, haters- you're gonna see it anyways."
Makes me nervous because it's just asking for trouble.
For my part, I've made peace with the possibility that we won 't get a new director anytime soon. I'll hope for a new writer/new editor, though.
It also gives off a "I don't care that my movie's bad, its gonna make money anyway!" vibe which is really not good.
And ugh "haters". Its sad that professionals actually use it and its not just the ignorant masses in the Movie Forums.
Yeah it struck me as immature for a director to respond that way.
Even if they truly are giving negative reviews just because it's him, that's not something the director should voice in my opinion.
It's not the ideal response, that's for sure. But Bay being a creative person putting his work out there and suffering this level of abuse for this many years, I can only be so critical of him letting it get under his skin. He's human.
