I ask because my One Step Lockdown arrived, and there's no indication of a Lamborgini licence anywhere on the packaging. And in the new issue of the UK comic there's a profile on Lockdown which makes no mention of the car make, just 'Supercar'.

Elsewhere in the comic there is a Supercar section of the comic where Lockdowns ALT mode is listed as 'Classified Information' whereas the Bugatti Veyron, Corvette Stingray, Chevy Camero and Pagini Huayra are all mentioned.

So what's up? Does Lockdown actually have a Lamborgini Licence or what? MP Lambor has official licensing down to that little Lamborgini hologram sticker on the box, hell, even the MP11J Goldswipe has that stupid sticker.

I find the lack of anything on Lockdown to be a glaring omission... and makes me wonder if MP Sunstreaker may face licensing issues?

Or maybe because it's a modified Lambo they don't need to have a License?

As far as I know, his Deluxe toy is licensed.

Maybe Hasbro didn't want to pay a bigger licensing fee to cover all Lockdown figures?

Then why pay anything at all? Pay me no mind, it just seems odd to me.

Because the only Lockdown toy with an accurate altmode is the Deluxe; all the others are Lamborghini-esque, even heavily so, but aren't accurate.

And because scale is a factor. I remember there was an RPM or something Bumblebee that wasn't an actual camaro because another company had the rights to diecast camaros at that scale.

Deluxe Lockdown is okay because of the specific size of the Lambo representation. Everyone else has to be "like a lambo but not really."

If this is a general principle and even remotely correct then somebody wake Takaraup and have them blow all the ambiguity/crap away and announce MP Sunstreaker tomorrow.

What would be to stop them?

Yeah, it was the RPM toy for Sideswipe. From TFWiki:

"Although leaked images of a prototype that surfaced in 2008 was pretty accurate to the Corvette Stingray car from the movie, the actual RPM Sideswipe toy has been severely altered and looks more like an Aston Martin. Unfortunately, Mattel was able to secure exclusive rights for releasing a Concept Stingray model car at a 1:64 scale for their Hot Wheels line (the toy was released as part of the "2010 New Models" lineup).

Even worse, the Mattel toy drops a Transformers reference in its packaging blurb."

Ergo, the same could be true about various sizes classes of Lockdown. And likewise why this wouldn't be an issue for the MP Sideswipe release.

Not Bumblebee; RPM Sideswipe wasn't a Corvette even though we originally saw a leaked prototype that was, in fact, still a Corvette.

There was an RPMs remote control Bumblebee that wasn't a Camaro. I believe it had to do with another RC brand having an exclusive license to use the Camaro at the time.

The Sideswipe thing was similar. Mattel had an exclusive license to use the Corvette as a diecast car in the Hot Wheels brand. What's funny is that the Hot Wheels Corvette actually made a reference to Transformers on the packaging.

Seeing as how Hasbro plans to releasensure Sideswipe next year, it's safe to assume they do

i think it's a shame that they wasted this license on a small deluxe figure when the character is the main bad guy.. i mean.. if one were to look at a toy shelf, you'd think the underdog decepticons were the good guys.. since the tallest bad guy is a voyager and there are two leader good guys.

    what a bummer.

It would have been okay if they'd made AOE Lockdown like previous Lockdowns, where his Deluxe toy unfolds into a larger-than-Voyager robot mode.
