And this is exactly why you must go watch this movie in IMAX 3D. It was the director's intended vision and also a lot of people have been doubting the format for awhile but this will undoubtedly be the best IMAX 3D presentation ever produced by a Hollywood film, so far They used these cameras for the major action sequences of the film so it will be glorious to see Grimlock tear it up in IMAX 3D
IMAX 3d is the way transformers is ment to be, it will be up to 3 hours of craziness with trailers and drift being badass
I'll be seeing it in IMAX, but not in 3D this time. I saw DOTM in IMAX 3D, and it was enjoyable, but I wear glasses so I got tired of adjusting the 3D glasses over my regular glasses.
A camera is only "Featured in" The Movie accidentally like in the Blackout throwing tanks about scene in 2007 where they left one of the camera in a shot... But I get what was meant - Smile.
I doubt the format just as much as I ever have for the simple fact that I have to travel four hours one direction to see a film in IMAX 3D. I wish that weren't the case, but as it stands I really can't support the format until I don't have to sacrifice an entire day and part of the night in order to watch a single movie.
I'll be seeing this in Dolby Atmos 3D first, then I'll catch an IMAX 3D showing. Hopefully the shot transitions are more fluid this time. While I enjoyed the forest fight in the IMAX version of ROTF, I didn't like how the rest of the shots in the movie were a constant back and forth between IMAX and regular.
I'm disappointed imax 3d camera aspect ratio is 1.9:1 which means it won't fill up the whole imax screen rather only 26% more than regular theatre screen. It gonna be like Skyfall on Imax. Dark Knight Rises filled up whole screen which had 1.4:1 aspect ratio.
IMAX® has developed the first fully integrated dual 65mm 4K digital large-format 3D camera. The IMAX® 3D Digital Camera delivers stunning image quality and is smaller, lighter and easier to use than other 3D digital camera systems on the market. The IMAX® 3D Digital Camera is a true 4K stereo camera. This means that both the left eye and right eye images are captured at full 4K resolution. Transformers: Age of Extinction is the first feature film to ever use the new IMAX®3D Digital Camera. Exclusively in IMAX® theatres, sequences filmed with the IMAX® 3D Digital Cameras will be presented in a 1.9:1 aspect ratio – offering moviegoers 26% more of the image than standard cinemas for a truly immersive IMAX® 3D experience. The production team on Transformers: Age of Extinction was able to capture major action sequences of the film – including chase scenes and helicopter shots – in high-resolution 3D in a way that was previously impossible thanks to the compact size of the new cameras. https://www.imax.com/imax3dcamera/ https://www.imax.com/imax3dcamera/links/IMAX-Media_Quick_Facts_and_FAQ.pdf
I'll also be seeing it in Dolby Atmos 3D on the 26th. The next day I'll be driving 3 hours to the nearest IMAX theater to watch it on the 27th and 28th and stay at a friend's place. I'm way excited to be seeing it in both featured formats.
The more I think about it. Bay really is a filmmaker. Not a story teller but he actually films movies. You have to give him that, seriously that is an amazing camera.
I ont see difference in imax movies of clearity, and quilty of picture except for ticket prices im impressed by it but don't make me fan, if cameras that small and prtoable film all movies in imax/ 3d
Not everyone has the budget to rent IMAX cameras and not every film needs a broad cinematic 3D experience. Also, these portable 3D IMAX cameras are relatively new.
