I picked up Evo Strafe and Slug from TRU and Scorn from Wal-Mart today, and all three have impressed.

Of the three, Slug was the one I was going to pass on based on first looks, it wasn't until some video reviews and some pictorials came out that I changed my mind. I really rather like this guy, far more then I even expected after changing my mind.

I do agree, he needs different weapons. As at home as he looks with the BH Mace, I'm not going to spring just for a weapon. For me, Slug strikes me as the tank, he can soak up all sorts of attacks and keep on ticking, so I'll try to find something appropriate for that role.

Just noticed that Slug has two of those hexagonal holes for stands; the one under his tail as well as one on the back of his waist.

Just got him and Voyager Grimlock. Very impressed with the look of the figure. Smaller than I originally thought he'd be, but a great little figure nonetheless. He has a very distinct look in both modes, but the fact that the "look" is shared by all of the AOE Dinobots, that's a very good thing. They look like they will all make a strong unit standing on my display shelves.

    Pros
-Great Dinosaur mode, it's very expressive
    -Beautiful paint apps
    -Pretty nice looking robot mode

    Cons
-Articulation seems kind of limited because of the kibble
-I'd kind of like for the waist to lock in place, but that's just me.
-The swords kind of suck. Why are they rubber?

All in all, I really like him. I think he's a better display piece than he is toy, if you follow me.

Just picked up the TRU version ( Don't think there is any difference? ) and really like this one, much more that I thought I would. The Dino head sculpt is great, the mouth and teeth are well done. The way the head spits, like auto morph almost, was fun to do the first time as I didn't expect it. Slug is really cool.

Why are people complaining about the option to stick the swords in the sides,
that's not weapon storage, that's "time to wreck shit up" mode!

The origin of Slug's weird blade setup in dino mode!

Slug was excellent in the movie, and the toy really matches his on-screen counterpart. He's easily one of my favorites from the line now.

I've got a Cyberverse weapon attached to the back of my Slug's robot mode :)

    Could be toy safety rules...?

The mace from the upscaled TFP Windrazor is actually a pretty close match. If I recall correctly someone posted a picture a while back of Slug holding the mace.

You know, I think I figured Slug out. Thanks to the concept art, where we got to see his swords act like the lances, the design of the blades suddenly made a lot more sense, along with his Popeye forearms.

Once the fists are rotated back in, the blades easily and naturally fit into the forearms. The blade contours of the guard even matches the lines of the forearms, resulting in a very natural and neat looking effect. This also gives him that needed effect boost to make his weapons cool and his own armament different enough from his peers. I took some quick pics with my phone, seen below.

That, along with a nearly perfect transformation the other day, and my opinion of Slug skyrocketed. He never had a lot of competition in terms of Triceratops Transformers (IMHO), but with a transformation without any partscrashing or parts not wanting to plug in, along with the cool blade arms, and this guy is now up in the same tier as Scorn and Voyager Grimlock as the best of the line.

really? when i transform mine something always runs into something, lol. usually his shoulder spikes smackin into his frill on the way back to dino mode.

over the past week my opinion on the dinobots did a complete 180... scorn is my least favorite now, followed by grimlock, then swoop, then slag. scorn's boring, grimlock and swoop are too fiddly but slag is just right. he has locking parts and is fun to pose unlike everyone else. need a mace from that windrazor though..

You'd have to be pretty soulless not to find Slug's obviously intentional puppy-esque characteristics in the movie cute.

You just want to hug the spiky rotund Triceratops of death. Don't deny it, bro.

By Primus, those leg pegs...either I'm getting old, or it's the one I got, or somehow today's kids are better at this than me.
