So we all know the ROTF figure has more accurate guns and head, but I haven't seen anyone put these both onto a regular or Premium Ironhide. I searched and didn't find anything. Did anyone try it? If so, can you share pics? I'm going to try it as soon as I get my hands on a Premium Ironhide, as my regular's in pretty bad shape. Obviously, some painting would be required to make the head and guns match. I guess you could paint the white rims silver or gray, but I'm not sure about the head.
I also intend to do this, sorta. I just want to swap ROTF Ironhide's head onto regular 1st movie Ironhide.
That looks nice. The white on the guns probably does need painting as I thought because it doesn't really match. Maybe it's just the light, but the new head seems kinda grey. I haven't opened mine yet, so I can't tell, but I may paint it too. For removing and inserting the head... did you unscrew just the head or the whole panel with the head on it?
Damn, that looks nice. That's basically exactly what I was thinking of doing with my TF1 Premium Ironhide.
There is another option, but I'm not sure if it's worthwhile. Just how "new" and accurate is ROTF Ironhide's head? For example, are the disks on his cheeks actually disks, or do the fade away as long ovals the way they do on 1st Movie Ironhide? The most obvious new detail about the ROTF head sculpt is that his right eye is scarred the way it's supposed to be. If that's really all they did to the head, I can just add that detail to 1st Movie Ironhide using a soldering iron. But if there's much more to his new head sculpt, a full swap might be better.
Oh yeah, but I swapped the first Ironhide with the Premium. I may get the ROTF Ironhide and swap more. Then paint the extra and maybe sell them or use them for parts.
