Anyone thinking about buying the new Voltron instead of Hercules?

I love and want both Voltron and Hercules. I love the new pilots that Matty has done and that they fit into the lions. The new Voltron is half the cost of Hercules and you get the six pilots, but Hercules is truly a grail piece to any collection. I can only get one and am leading towards Voltron. Anyone else have this or a similar dilemma?

As a kid I got to see the Transformers before I saw Voltron, so it never appealed to me. They all looked the same, only painted in flashy colors, they were not sentient, but human-piloted, and the robot looked lame to me with all the lion mouths at the end of each of his limbs.
TFs combiners on the other hand, were all different members, each with their personality, and made for cooler looking gestalts with different body parts and most of the times a more harmonic color scheme.

Is it right to call an unreleased figure a grail?

I think Hercules is too big frankly. He is in masterpiece scale but in a classics collection he'll make your Bruticus tiny and the individual figures will be too big as well.

Only if it's a figure that will never be released. Grails aren't wants, they're wants that you can reasonably expect to never have.

On a Transformers website, I guess most people are going to prefer the Devy inspired TF. And I say that as a Voltron fan.

You asking in the wrong forum. I would prefer Hercules over Voltron. Volition does nothing for my collection.

um no, it is 6 originally molded figures by a 3rd part company that have great robot modes, great vehicle modes, and makes a KICKASS combine form

it is pricy, but it is worth it

voltron is utter shit, its overpriced for what it is. it is hindered by a CRAPPY autotransformation gimmick, looks horrible, the pilot gimmick is dumb, and by it is all said and done will cost $300, it is not worth it at ALL

i legit feel sorry for anyone who buys that and thinks they are getting the ultimate voltron toy, no, it is garbage, go get the toynami masterpiece instead, it is better in every aspect

Honestly, I still have a giant Voltron, and the reissue of the die-cast original toy, from the Trendmasters line back in the 90's. No auto-transformation, no pilots, and a bit more weapons than this new one.

I'd much rather own a new Voltron than another Devastator.

Mattel totally blew it with the new large Voltron. I went with the $30 one which is barely passable but I got it to just have a voltron to pose and mess with.

It is sad that a small third-party company that makes the Hercules totally blows away Mattel, the largest toy company in the world, with their cheap-looking Voltron.

no, mattel SUCKS, they are horrible, hasbro is way better, mattel sucks in every way, shape, and form, if it wasn't for hot wheels and barbies, they would of been gone a LONG time ago

ask any mattel collector about the horror stories of mattycollector

I agree, with slightly nicer language. Voltron looks to be lacking effort. Hercules seems to have just that, with the price fitting accordingly.
