Anyone noticed there's alot of interspecies relationships in today's media?

I mean like Legend of Zelda games (Link being an elf and fish women), Doctor Who (Vastra and Jenny), Regular Show (Margaret's parents being a bird furry woman and a human male to Skips and Mona to Mordecai dating a cloud person then soon married a bat person), Wolf Children (Hana and her wolf-man husband anyone here seen that 2012 Japanese animated fantasy drama about a woman who falls for a wolf-man and produces 2 hybrid shapeshifting kids she must raise on her own? ), Bojack Horseman (Furries dating/married to different ones even a human male married to a deer furry woman and they have a family to Bojack dating various female furry ladies even Todd and Maude), Voltron Legendary Defender (Hunk and Shay), Hatton Slayden's amazing artworks, Mass Effect, Star Wars, Skyrim, Warcraft the movie (elf X orc and even a human man married to an orc female and conceived a hybrid) etc.

I mean xenos, furries (animal humanoid folks), mutants and cyborgs in stories are people who are different. none of it's "beastality" because that's only for lower 4 legged feral animal creatures because 4 legged feral animal creatures don't want to make love to humans or humanoids in general because they can't give consent for romance. As furries, xenos, mutants and cyborgs are people and can give consent as they can even conceive children with any race/species of being. There's nothing wrong with love between two consenting adult beings. Even Elves with fish people.

In the past they were rare like Star Trek (even android and alien relationships), Murray and Polly in the 80s Mighty Mouse series, Gargoyles (Eliza and Goliath to Demona and Macbeth), Blade Runner, Armitage III, Catherine/Vincent in the 80s Ron Perlman starring Beauty and the Beast series (remember that one?), Biker Mice from Mars (Vinny and Charlene), Alien Nation (Cathy and Matt) (Remember that show and movie series?), Handy Smurf and Marina the mermaid on Smurfs, Splash, Hepzibah and Corsair in Marvel comics (even other Marvel interspecies romances like Lilandra being a bird xeno with a mutant lover named Xavier and more). Yet nowadays we accept these romances in sci-fi/fantasy mainstream shows/games, animated shows, books, movies and all that outside internet fanfiction/original stories and artworks. Like for example i'm writing a sweet story about Julie Bruin (remember that foxy busty bear woman with red hair on Tiny Toon Adventures?) and she has an affair with a handsome human man and both have dates and stuff. Even has to have her parents accept him, just because he's not of the furry race (animal humanoid folk) doesn't mean it's bad. Even marriage to having kids as one of my friends drew a concept sketch of what the human man looks like.

I see these relationships in stories as allegories to real life relationsips of mixed ethnic relationships (despite for when there is humans involved in furry/xeno/mutant/cyborg relationships there is technically some humans with different skin colors/ethnicity romancing xeno furry mutant and cyborg folk) and same gender romance even liking someone of a different culture and all that. The idea in these stories is overcoming differences of surface and learning to accept those who are different by their surface and not to judge anyone by how they look but accept them by their personality and special skills/abilities.

Like Prince Lir in The Last Unicorn (book and movie) once said when he found out about Lady Amalthea's secret he did said "Unicorn, mermaid, sorceress, gorgon, vampire, gargoyle, werewolf, genie...no name you can give her would surprise or frighten me, i love whom i love".

You say "today's media", then post stuff from half a century ago.

Anyhow, this kind of thing has been going on a lot longer than that. As long as science fiction has existed at least, but also even going back to ancient fairy tales.

Nothing new under the sun. I think human civilization has always had these kinds of stories.

Furries exist! You discovered it finally!.... How old are you and why did this take so long? ;)
Also love how your topic title is "todays media" then half the stuff you post is cartoons and shows from the 80ies/90ies.
And much the rest is, y'know, fanart.
I wonder how you will react when you discover Transformers has this part of the fandom called slashfics... ;)

    Xenomorph and....anyone. It doesn't discriminate :D

First off, @Skekgar82 I love your username and avatar. Neat combination of TFs and The Dark Crystal.

Yeah, like others have said, the title says "today's media", yet the first pictures I see are of examples from 30+ years ago (Splash, Beauty and the Beast). I'm not sure I would call that today's media. Besides, interspecies relationships are nothing new. As pointed out, Star Trek had a ton of them, including a main character (Spock) being the result of an alien/human relationship. Even back in Lord of the Rings (1950s), you had a human/elf relationship.

There do seem to but more relationships like this in entertainment media nowadays, but I think that's a result of so much media being available. Satellite, streaming services, movies, video games, etc.

Hollywood is trying to get beastiality accepted.

Soon, when a movie of Tom Cruise married to a dog is released, you better celebrate it or you're a bigot

Storytelling always had this going on long before movies and TV came to be so this isn't anything new or strange for that matter.

I'm more distracted by the amount of new members that have signed-up in the last week that have immediately started threads about randomly weird shit like this.

I worry where these forums are being search indexed by Google sometimes.... ;)

Oh did they? That's good. I don't know - I can't see those other threads because I instantly just blocked the kids/creeps once they popped up and started making them. Somehow I missed this one, though.
