I'm really attracted to the Transformers multichangers that have more than 3 modes. There are some that come to mind. There is Sixshot/Greatshot and Quickswitch/Sixknight which have 6 modes (although you can count 7 with Sixshot's flying wolf mode). There is Optimal Optimus with four modes. Then there is Rid Megatron/Galvatron which have an impressive 10 modes. There is also some 7 changer Transformer knockoff from South Korea, but I'm not as impressed with it to be frank. I also know of Animated Voyager Shockwave, but I don't own that one. Tonton made an impressive video of making very convincing fan-made alt modes to SS 034 Megatron. I haven't seen anything since then. Is anyone interested in seeing more multichangers? I'm disappointed that Hasbro hasn't released any new ones in decades. I would love to see a Sixknight and Greatshot reissue released in the United States, but I doubt that will happen. Does anyone think we will ever get any new multichangers? I have seen that they have released some remakes of Sixshot, but I'm happy with my original Sixshot and want to see new characters. I have written to Hasbro about this, but I don't know if they will ever listen to any of my suggestions.
I love multichangers, but they always feel half-assed. I wouldn't mind paying a bit more for a smaller figure like how they're doing leader class astrotrain but he's Voyager sized with better than average triple forms.
Astrotrain's plane mode is terrible. It sucks that a 3P company has to come up with a way to hide the back. Honestly, I really like multichangers so I can only hope they create more. A G1 inspired tank-gun (or even tank-plane that doesn't look bad) Megatron would be the impossible dream.
While I agree about Astrotrain, I don't consider it super bad, but yes, again, Hasbro was lazy and could have easily engineered it a bit better with just a few extra folding panels. But: There's not a single figure ever made that couldn't have been better for what would be an easy fix. Even those that are considered amazing, I still find that they still could have done something more.... For the question, I agree about multichangers.. done right, I'd love to see more, but I also understand that they are quite hard to "nail" them perfectly.
Ah very true. I definitely was quick on the trigger with the "terrible" comment, but your point still stands. It is an easy fix and I wouldn't have minded parts-forming just to cover the gap. I mean they're parts-forming some of the Earthrise line, so I don't see why they would stop there. I do enjoy Black Shadow's and Sixshots different alts.
Siege Astrotrain's shuttle mode. Has a horrible hole in the top and sides toward the rear, and as a leader class figure it really can't be excused.
I'm one of the few fans that liked the Titans Return cartoon. Megatron was a Triple Changer in it. While the Siege toy bears a resemblance to his animation models, I'd love to see a version that includes his gun mode from the show which I think looked great. Welcome aboard by the way.
Besides it’s just a children’s toy. I applaud it for being able to be able to be pretty accurate to the cartoon model, which is pretty insane to think about it.
I dig triple changers, but a lot of the time the execution falls short. For voyagers, Titans Return Optimus and Megatron are kinda bleh because they’re obvious pretools for Octone/ Blitzwing respectively. Moreover, the colors for Megatron are atrocious unless you get the G2 one. Blitzwing has some proportion issues as well. Galvatron is a failure in proportions as well as a stupid head gimmick, Astrotrain has a train mode that looks like some battleship or death, and I just couldn’t care for the others. Siege’s triple changers are pretty good. Springer is amazing, and Astrotrain, even though his shuttle mode is a bit weak, is impressive for being able to nail 95% of his cartoon appearance. I do enjoy Apeface although the questionable color they chose for him and the fact that his articulation is on the weaker end (which I think is forgivable as the alt modes are pretty challenging to execute). I’m pretty excited for Doubledealer as he does have his powermaster gimmick (more of a homage, but it’s still there), and all of his modes look impressive. I severely dislike movie triple changers as they are pretty bad designs. Dropkick and Shatter neither have enough kibble to actually turned into a figure. Toyworld has shown a prototype for their Shatter triple changer but let’s be honest. It’s rough. Drift is the worst offender of them all, neither having any kibble or any kind other than his chest. Overall, I’m a sucker for triple changers, but I like the lack of it because Hastak isn’t perfect at the execution as it requires a lot of challenges. Quality over quantity.
Yeah.. so many lose their minds over having extra parts, but for me, the more possibility, the better... always better when well integrated, but a cover that could have unfolded into a shield would have been fine for me. I like having accessories and Siege and now Earthrise are very poor for such... when the leaders and Cliffjumper are the only figures that have any soft of accessories, and still all mono-mold pieces, we are far from the "good old days" of solid weapons that fired missiles or other. And the worst of this, is that Hasbro keeps doing it and getting worse about it (how many figures didn't even come with a weapon in the last few years. Examples: almost all the "legend" sized figures like Beachcomber, all the insecticons, etc. and the WORST thing is that Hasbro re-released a few figures (Cosmo, Shrapnel) but without their targetmaster, leaving them as sole figures without any weapon, but at full price. And then the price increases started... half more, then doubling, then tripling within 2 years.
Just like every TF toy from the lines before siege. Which were all fine toys that didn't have blotches of silver on them and didn't cost twice what they should cost.
Never been a fan of the modern versions because it always feels like one mode gets compromised, the transformation is too complex or it relies too heavily on tabs.
TR Sixshot came out like 3 years ago. I can agree that more of them might be nice, but it certainly hasn't been "decades" since we've gotten one.
He did say new. My reading of his post was entirely new multichanger characters, not merely new toys of Sixshot and Quickswitch.
