Anyone going to botcon alone? If I go, I'll probably go alone as NONE of my friends have any interest in transformers, let alone going to a con. For that reason though, I'm hesitant to go.

 

I went to '02 by myself, I met a lot of great people from here and what was then Gen 3 all of whom I hung out with again at '03

Aint nothing wrong with going alone, you'll meet alot of great people along the way!

 

I guess it depends on how you look at it. I'm making the trip alone, but once I arrive I'll be bunking with others. Don't let a lack of friends who are into Transformers deter you from going. There will be hundreds of people to meet who ARE into Transformers when you're there.

 

I say if you really want to, go ahead and go to Botcon. You will be able to meet so many new people and who knows you might be able to make lasting friendships.

 

Just drag along a family member. I'm bringing my dad, and he isn't a toy collector.

 

I be making the trip by myself. But I know of 3 other collecter that I have done buniess with before THat I'm going to meet.

join the crowd. just grab a beer at the hotel bar and chat it up with the fan next to you; chances are he/she's in the exact same boat.

 

Go! Don't worry about who is not going with you. Be plenty of fans there to talk to. I feel like BotCon is like a family reunion except you are not related to anyone   It will be lots of fun. Do you know anyone online that is going that you would like to met up with? I've always met lots of friendly people there even some I remain friends with during the year that I first met there!

 

Unfortunately I don't know anyone online who is going either. Are there any unofficial events going on? Maybe I can go to one of those and meet people that way. I did see a dinner meet up for thursday, maybe I'll attend that.

 

I'll chime in since the Thursday meet-up you mentioned is my idea

b)Going alone's no big,with the amount of people who'll be there.You've got a better chance then not of finding a crowd or 2 for those few days

There are more than enogh people going from here aloe, d00d. you won't be on your own for very long, so don't worry about it. And yes, Shaun''s dinner will be a great place to meet people

I went to Botcon '04 alone and met a great group of people.

 

I'm going alone. Always do. (Except on '99 when I dragged my sister and on '03 when my mom came with me because she wanted to see Chicago)

I am going alone cause my wife doesnt like transformers and she is not keen on the idea of me spending money on a con but I am a huge TF fan and this will be my first con and I am looking foward to it. I fly in thursday morning be at DFW at 8 am then off to the hotel and check in and unpack then there is supposed to be the bigest mall in north texas like across the street from the hotel I figure Ill check it out and come back clean up and off to register then to shawn c's dinner.

 

You know, I've never been interested in conventions or anything, so I never stay up to date on them. But I just now noticed that this year BotCon is going to be just a few minutes away from where I live. Maybe I'll just drop by one of those days to check it out. Is there an admission fee? I'm a total convention virgin.

 

I believe if you just show up at the door it'll cost you $9 a day, which will get you into the dealer room and any panels that are not already full with people that bought attending packages.
