This is a long shot of course for me. I've read most of the IDW Transformers comics and to be honest I find the writing dull. There were some issues where I thought the writing was good mostly from MTMTE line. How good of a hold does IDW have the Hasbro/Transformers line? I'm hoping if Marvel gains it back, I'm sure the writing would be more interesting...What are your thoughts?

Hell no. Marvel has put out some of the worst comics in the last 10 years.

Nope. I'm not a fan of their current direction.

Jokes aside, absolutely freaking not. They're not exactly doing well under IDW, clearly, but giving them to Marvel wouldn't be any better.

Both DC and Marvel are basically intellectual property farms for their parent companies at this point.

I'm convinced the people who want Marvel to get Transformers back haven't read Marvel comics in a very long time.

I hope not. I really don't want the brand under control of the big publishers. They wouldn't give a crap. Our titles would just get cancelled over and over and over again as they under-performed.

The only benefit I see in this is Marvel Omnibus (Omnibi?) of the original comics.

Couldn't care less about any new comics they would make. Hell, I don't care about them now while IDW is making them!

HELL NO, Transformers may have got their start from Marvel but I never want Marvel to have their disgusting Disney laced hand on the Transformers ever again.

No. I just want Roberts or Furman back. Either I want to read the original way Furman had planned his story or read more about the lost light. Or both. And marvel UK classics finished.

Hmm...that's actually a hard one. they could potentially get some stellar writers/artists on the comics at Marvel. They'd probably have multiple series going on at once, so...more content.
But I also remember quitting Marvel because I was getting tired of the terrible crossover events.

Would Transformers being at Marvel mean crossovers into Earth 616? If so, then please no. If it can be its own thing then sure why not.

I think quality of a book has more to do with the writer than the publisher (mandated "Event" books aside). Because of that, I can't see Marvel making much of a difference story-wise.

This is where I would be most interested. IDW has proven that they don’t feel the need to put out quality reprints of the older material. The idea of having the team that does the restoration on Marvel Masterworks getting to clean up the old TF comics would be a dream.

I also hate Marvel’s current direction, though not for the (likely bigoted) reasons others have, but just with their business model of relaunching series every 8 issues and cancelling books before the first issue even comes out. At least IDW pretends to have confidence in their work. Still, I know Kieron Gillen is a big fan of the UK material, so the chance to have him write Transformers would be fun.

Yes. If Furman is involved and it's the same quality as their Star Wars books, which are the only current Marvel books I'm familiar with.

If it means the above, then yes. I just want someone to reprint the Marvel books in their entirety, including UK.

However, I'd imagine that the US content would take precedent so you'd get the UK content presented separately with US issues not altered for continuity like in the original printing.

    Sure.

I mean IDW set my expectations so low that I don't care how's it's presented.

I don't want that crappy, thick stock paper, that's for sure.

I also want classic GI Joe, ROM, and Micronauts, as well.

    - hmmmm I don't know about that comment. I agree with everyone about Marvel not being the same since I went on my hiatus with comics in the mid 90's. I since started again in the early 2000's and been wasting money again since.

But it's my fault for not being clear on the topic. I only want Marvel to gain the rights for the hardcover omnibus collection. In fairness to Marvel there are a few comics in my opinion are fairly decent - GOTG, Avengers, Conan, Thor - Jason Aaron.

I'd be more concerned about the creative team (and support thereof) than the publisher.
