I just saw these recently in the radicon forum.

    Optimus Prime
    Megatron
    Grimlock
    Bumblebee

I had no idea this was even a thing and am absolutely amazed at how they look. I'm not sure how well they would look mass produced, but if 3rd parties could pull off that style of paint job, would you buy them? I personally wouldn't want all figures to get this style of repaint, but I would definitely go for some of the A list characters.

Cool, I just learned how to make a poll. :)

Not really. The cel shaded style looks so flat and lacking in detail to me. It works okay on a cartoon or video game, but not so much on a 3D object.

I don't want my MPs to look 100% like they came out of a cartoon cel. They're more of a hybrid of several sources.

They look super cool, but cell-shading in motion makes me nauseated and this would just remind me of that, so nah.

Not for me, I just don't dig it. For what it's worth, I don't like the 8-bit style NECAs been doing lately either (cel shaded, and pixel-y).

This seems like an off shoot of what NECA is doing with their video game line or what DC is doing with their Blueline Batman that was at SDCC 2015 and the recently announced Superman

Those look beautiful. I would love to see one in person. For some reason I imagine they look better in pics then they would as toys. If they are even close, I would buy them.

I've seen these pop up and though I appreciate the effort it takes to hand paint these, I dont need one.

These cell shaded customs are really impressive- I've looked at them a few times myself in the custom section of the forum-but I doubt many fans would invest into them at the price point most MPs come in at.

If anything there would probably be a market for chunky non-transforming cell shaded statutes and rotocast figures- maybe even larger scaled. They would not only then be unique pieces, they could be made much more cost effective and feature all new packaging, accessories and options for those box eaters *cough* *cough* box trolls *cough* *cough* reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally enthusiastic about packaging fans.

Perhaps your poll needs another option- for alternative products. Those are some sweet customs though! I'm sure the creator is very proud that people are responding so positively to his awesome work.

I love the look of these. A real blast of nostalgia. I might consider having a go at this using a couple of cheap KO car bots. That Grimlock looks absolutely amazing. It's just that MPs are so expensive to begin with, this added specialised paint job would hike the price significantly. I'd be really tempted though.

I honestly doubt that mass produced pieces would be able to pull of the look and attention to detail that the customs do. Not to mention you'd be looking at having to paint the entire figure to get the results you're wanting and I highly doubt many would pay those prices.

Buuuuuuut if you want some cell shaded figures, just ask the guys that are doing it now. I'm certain they'd be willing to help you out. Most likely for a price reasonably to anything a third party would want for similar effort.

    Cell shading isn't for me.
For those that do like it, hey, that's awesome, enjoy it!
It's just not for me (it's why i haven't gotten the new RiD sticker sets from Reprolabels... they're all cell shaded)

ALthough I'm very impressed with those customs and the skill they show, like the (overly) animated panel lining I thoroughly dislike this.

If a figure I wanted was released like this, I wouldn't buy it if it was virtually for free. (And if they gave me money I'd still probably refuse.)

I'm in awe of the skill that's gone into making these, but it's not something I'd buy. Apart from anything else they'd be in addition to normal versions and I just don't have that kind of dough.

The pictures look very nice, but I'd need to see them in person to know if I want them. They have such a 2d look to them I can't really imagine how they look in three dimensions.
