i for one am a little sick of the the same tough old mentor type of voice, but that isnt what im talking about. i mean optimus' speech patterns in prime and more so in RID. he just has this annoying overly polite and complex way of saying things, like yoda or something. example:

"i was not on cybertron when i received your call bumblebee, nor have i been since the primes restored me to this realm"

is there anything wrong with saying "i haven't been on cybertron yet". it just seems weird how he goes into these overly elaborate and complex ways of saying simple things. anyone else notice and feel similarly about this?

 

Yeah, I think Aligned Optimus Prime talks far too dryly. I liked the way he spoke in the G1 cartoon. He had more "energy" in his voice and was more relaxed. Cullen claims that his voice for Optimus Prime hasn't changed since the eighties, but I disagree. I can hear a difference between the two.

 

same, in g1 he was like the tough but nice uncle. now he is like that one that you cant get to close to. in g1 cullen had to adjust his voice to sound like optimus, now with age, he just sounds like that all the time lol

 

TFP/RID Optimus sounds too much like a royal knight: overly formal and ornacular. It's a sad side-effect of connecting your leader-heroes to gods.

G1 Optimus was a tough soldier and leader to his men, who could get into the fight and take command and yet be on close terms with them.

Movie Optimus is fairly close to G1 Optimus than people think, if the films didn't get so dark.

 

One thing I don't like about this Optimus is the drab, formal speech.

I could not agree more. He's so boring it hurts. He sounds like a robot, and not a TF robot like a robot-robot.

I agree. They tried to make him a "noble" and "serious" but they ended up making him emotionless and boring. I wish he was kinda like Animated's Optimus or G1 Optimus.

 

All power to peter Cullen, but he is older, I wish we could find someone who could perfectly match his voice for g1 Optimus, for after he passes or retires of course.
