The reason is my friend and I both have them and they both have the same problem. For some reason they wont stay charged. You can level them plugged in for hours and when you unplug them they wont turn on. Does anyone know any solutions to this problem?
I've totally given up on those plug in charge packs. I've gone through 3 of them and they don't work unless I have the USB card plugged in. COntrollers are working FINE with regular batteries though.
I got something like that. I leave it plugged in all the time. Even plugged in all the time I turn on the system and If i got to look at my achievements or something it shows it half charged.
Weird. Mine stopped charging after about a month after I got my 360 but got it to work again. It's fine now. When it's plugged in does the light on plug turn red?
But using batteries on it would probably be more annoying then playing plugged it. Plus I shouldn't have to go the extra mile for something that shouldn't have crapped out 4 months after I bought it.
Mine are doing something similar. They stopped taking any decent charge. Forgot about them for a few months, and now they seem to be holding a proper charge again.
It's weired because my black controller that I've had for about 3 years still works perfectly and the red one (my buddy and I both got it around the same time and both of ours has the same problem) craped out in about 4 months.
That kind of stinks since the main incentive to buy the red controller was for the free charge and play kit. I guess you get what you pay for. I would give Microsoft a call. Maybe you got them from a bad batch. The only problem I've had with mine is that the analog sticks and the triggers take turns squeeking. It's been quite lately, but it'll probably pop up again.
Last time I called Microsoft I got pissed. My Elite RRoD'd and I was talking to some Indian lady who asked if my 360 was plugged in. She also told me to test all my games and make sure it wasn't just one game making it RRoD. It seems like its just squeeking from overuse
I got a red controller around Christmas, and it still charges fine. I've had two recharger wires go out on me, though. They wouldn't work with any controller, even my new ones, after about a year. I think the problem is that the connection is extremely weak and get damaged from pulling it out of the top of the controller. Which, you know, is really the only way they are physically designed to be removed. However, with my newer red one, I have been digging my nails between the wires connector and the controller so I don't put any stress on the wire, and it's held up thus far.
I got one around the time Dead Space came out. I had the same issue, so I gave up and just started using regular rechargeables.
